Date: _____________________________

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, the pupils should be able to:
a. Identify the parts of reproductive system of representative groups of
animals (butterfly, mosquitoes, frogs, cats and dogs)
b. Label the parts of reproductive system of representative groups of
animals (butterfly, mosquitoes, frogs, cats and dogs)
c. Show appreciation of the structure and capabilities of each part of
reproductive system of representative groups of animals (butterfly,
mosquitoes, frogs, cats and dogs)

II. A. Materials
Live Butterfly, mosquitoes, frogs, cats and dogs (if possible)
Pictures of the chosen animals listed above
Video clip
5 Colored Cartolina/Manila Paper
Strips of reproductive parts of representative animals (Butterfly,
mosquitoes, frogs, cats and dogs)
B. References
Curriculum Guide in Science 5, S5LT-IIe-5
Internet ( Google, Youtube)

C. Process Skills: Identifying, Observing, Labeling

D. Values Integration: Creativity, Cooperation

III. Learning Tasks:
A. Engagement
1. Review:
FACT or BLUFF
Raise FACT flag if the statement shows how to take care of reproductive
system and BLUFF flag if not.
___________________1. Do a regular exercise.
___________________2. Drink alcoholic beverages.
___________________3. Take a bath regularly.
___________________4. Wash with soap and water.
___________________5. Wear right clothing.
2. Motivation
Show a video about animals and their offspring.
Ask:
What can you say about the video?
How do animal reproduce?
What system of the body involves in reproduction?

B. Exploration:
1. Divide the class into five groups. Each group will be given a puzzle picture of
reproductive parts of representative animals (e.g frogs, dogs, cats, mosquitoes
and butterflies). The first group to complete the puzzle will be the winner.
2. Check the materials needed for the activities. Provide the activity sheets,
cartolina/manila paper, scissors, and tape.
3. Give them the necessary instructions in doing the activity such as: Time
Allotted, Precautionary measures, etc.
4. Guide the pupils upon performing the activity.

C. Explanation:
1. Ask the leader of each group to present the output from the activity.
(Teacher will enhance the explanations or answers given by the pupils
referring to reproductive system of animals listed above.)
a. How important is the function of male and female reproductive system of
representative animals?

2. Moreover, present other colorful pictures of representative animals such as

butterfly, mosquito, frogs, cats and dogs which show the reproductive system.

3. Relate this activity to other animals found in the community.

Allow them to arrive at a generalization by asking:

What are the parts of male and female reproductive system of animals?
D. Elaboration
Ask volunteers to paste on the board the correct label of each
reproductive part of representative groups of animals (butterfly, mosquitoes,
frogs, cats and dogs)

Most of the parts and functions of male and female reproductive system
of butterfly, dogs, mosquitoes, frogs, cats and frog are closely similar
from each other.

E. Evaluation
Label the male and female reproductive parts of animals. Choose your
answer from the box.
