PORT BULK HANDLING PORTFOLIO

For the port and terminal sector, Scorpio offers the conveying systems and equipment on turnkey basis or as
individual supply. This covers the handling of almost all dry bulk materials in ports and terminals including
cement, fly ash, iron ore, coal, rock phosphate, fertilizer, petrochemicals, chemicals, food grain etc.

1. MOBILE HOPPERS
Mobile Hoppers engineered and supplied by Scorpio receive
material from cranes through grabs and are supplied in
capacities upto 150 200m3. These hoppers have optional
plastic liners for abrasive materials. The hoppers have
weigh belt feeders for measuring discharge rate (optional).
They are hydraulically driven on rails. Hoppers can be
supplied with integral dust collection systems to ensure dust
free grab unloading. They come complete with storm locks,
brakes and maintenance access.

2. BELT CONVEYORS
Materials unloaded from the grabs through our Mobile Hoppers
are discharged to jetty conveyors which can convey the
unloaded material to stockyard or to open or closed storage
systems (silos or flat storage).
The conveyor capacities will handle large discharge rates.

3. PIPE CONVEYORS
In cases where the ship unloaded material cannot be
stored near the dock due to government of other
constraints, Scorpio offers enclosed pipe conveyors
which can convey the material to long distances (1 10
km and beyond). These pipe conveyors are cross
country conveyors and run at approx. elevation of 15 to
30m. Capacities range from 500 TPH and above. Pipe
conveyors are designed and engineered to specifications
of our Principals, Bridgestone, Japan.

4. SILOS AND FLAT STORAGE

Scorpio offers steel silos for dockside storage of dry
materials. These silos are of large capacities and are welded
together at the dockside from pre shaped and edge prepared
factory supplied shell and cone plates. Flat store warehouses
for cement, fly ash and other chemicals and minerals are also
part of the Scorpio product profile. Flat stores are fully sealed
and warehouses with built-in filters. These are reclaimed
either by fluidized flow or by front end loaders.
5. PNEUMATIC UNLOADING
For dry free flowing fine materials like cement, fly ash, rock
phosphate etc. Scorpio offers mobile and stationary pneumatic
unloaders of capacity 50 TPH to 500 TPH. The unloaders use
articulated hydraulic booms to vacuum the product from the
ship holds and either load bulk tankers of mobile hoppers on
the jetty or pump the product to far silos.

6. STACKERS AND RECLAIMERS

A. STACKER
The Traveling, Slewing and Luffing Stackers are designed
to store bulk products in longitudinal piles either in an
axial, chevron or windrow mode. It is composed of a
tripper car allowing the lifting of the field conveyor belt up
to the actual height of the luffing stacker boom, a sluing
support, and a traveling carriage to which the tripper car is
attached and a luffing stacker boom allowing depositing
the product loaded onto it by the tripper car into the store.
The machine is supported onto four double flanged, double
wheels with bogies and balancer beams arranged into two
traveling carriages with half of the wheels driven

B. RECLAIMER
The Linear Homogenizing Bridge Reclaimer comprises a
movable bridge, supported on side traveling end carriage with
traveling harrow arranged to match the material repose angle and
by moving back and forth across the full face of the stockpile
ensuring every layer are dislodged simultaneously and flow down
to the reclaim scraper chain conveyor running across the base of
the stockpile. The advantage of such a blending method is that at
the very end before the materials are reclaimed, it is possible to
add some materials having different characteristics

7. RADIAL TELESCOPIC SHIP LOADERS AND

STACKERS
Radial telescopic stackers and ship loaders are highly efficient
and effective heavy duty equipments for ship loading and
stockyard handling due to their inherent flexibility and
mobility. They are ideal for operation in stockpiling in
trapezoidal or kidney shapes in stockyards and for loading of
barges and ships with telescopic and radial functions to fill
multiple hatches with one feed point. Optional trimming
functions are available to maximize hatch filling in ship
loading. Various automatic sensors and switches control the
telescopic function to extend and retract. Radial and luffing
actions allow adjustments to suit various tide levels, ship sizes
and stockpile heights. The unit has complete on-site mobility
with self-driven wheels for linear and radial movement to suit
any application for stockpiling or ship/barge loading. One of
the prime advantages in ports is that the units are mobile and
do not occupy port space. They are ideal replacements or
options for gantry and rail mounted ship loaders and stackers.
8. SELF UNLOADING SHIPS AND FLOATING
TERMINALS:
Where the use of dock based unloaders is not
possible and where cement needs to be distributed
over a number of coastal destinations, Scorpio offers
self unloading ships and barges. The ships are
retrofitted with fluidized floors. Cement is sucked
out from the holds to deck mounted receiving silos
from where it is discharged or pumped out to the
dockside for loading into Bulk Tankers or to far silos.

The self-unloaders can also double as floating terminals there by the cement from the holds is fed into a packing
plant within the ship (one of the holds is converted to a packing plant). These floating terminals discharge
bagged cement as against bulk cement in the self-unloaders. The bagged cement can be discharged from the side
of the ship to dockside pallets or directly loaded into trucks parked on the jetty. These dumb barges are gearless
vessels with shallow draft can be berthed in low draft areas.

9. AHTSV SYSTEMS
For offshore supplies, Scorpio offers dense phase pneumatic pumping systems installed in the holds of Anchor

10. COMPLETE BULK TERMINALS

Scorpio can also offer a fully integrated bulk terminal system for loading and unloading ships along with the
above products. This covers complete turnkey engineering, design, supply, erection and commissioning of
systems from ship loading / unloading, reclaim, bagging rail wagon loading systems and also be supplied for such
bulk terminals for onward product distribution.
