Developmental Stages in Middle and Late Adolescence
LEARNING Objectives:

Knowledge (Knowing) Define what is adolescence and developmental tasks

Affective (Understanding) Evaluate ones development in comparison with persons of the same age group

Skills (Doing) List ways on how to become responsible adolescents preapred for lif

II. PROCEDURES:
TEACHING PROCEDURES AND STRATEGIES TEACHING MATERIALS
A. ELICIT
(Introduction/Review) Elicit students prior knowledge by asking them what they know and understand about adolescence.

The teacher will ask the students what behavior usually characterizes the adolescent stage of development.

B. ENGAGE
(Motivation / Purpose for the Teenage Bucket list
lesson) Instruct the students to create their own bucket list with this guide question: What are the 20 things you
want to do before you turn 20?
After they were able to write their own bucket list, they will share their output to their seatmate (by pair)

C. EXPLORE
(Discussion / Presentation of the Day 1
Concept) Discuss with the students Erick Ericksons Stages of Human Development and explore how these apply to their
experiences.
The teacher will ask the students what physical changes they are experiencing and how are these changes affects
their moods, feelings and emotions, thinking and behavior?

Day 2
Discuss with the students different developmental tasks during adolescence according to Havighurst

Day 3
Discuss the topic Adolescents in the 21 st Century
Ganito Kami Noon, Paano kayo Ngayon?: This activity aims to help the student discover what life was like before and
compare it with their present life as a teenager. By discovering the differences, they may be able to understand how
generations evolve and be able to describe the characteristics of the modern generation.

Day 4
Discuss the Skills and Tasks Appropriate for Middle and Late Adolescence and process the students thoughts and
feelings about these. The teacher will ask the students which ones apply to them and which do not or are relevant to
them.

Day 5
Discuss the additional seven developmental tasks and skills for Filipinos. The teacher will ask the students to reflect
on each of these and instruct them to write their thoughts and feelings in their journal.

D. Practical APPLICATIONS /
VALUES INTEGRATION of Writing Activity (Rewriting the Bucket List)
concepts and skills in daily living.
The teacher will instruct the students that they will be rewriting their bucket list. This time, they must show
ways to become more responsible adolescents prepared for adult life.

E. DEEPEN
(Making generalizations and Scenario Analysis (Video Clip from the movie Moana)
abstractions about the lesson) Let the students watch the video clip. After watching, the teacher will ask the following questions:
1. What was Moanas problem/dilemma?
2. What developmental tasks should she developed to be a responsible individual?
3. How will she achieve those developmental tasks?
