Small Handsaw: Find and mark the desired location of the position of the wood to be
cut.Position the saw according to the mark and aligned the position of the saw.Begin the to
saw the wood with a push and pull motion acting upon the saw enabling the saw blades to cut
through.
Silicone Gun: Prepare the silicon canister and make sure it is brand new. Place and load the
silicon canister into the silicon gun by pressing your thumb on the release trigger at the back

of the gun. Then, pull the plunger back and put the canister in which is followed by making
sure the nozzle facing towards the tip.Push back the plunger into place and begin to pull the
trigger to squeeze out the silicon glue.
Small Handsaw: Be assured safeness by using a holder to hold the project and provide
strong grip support as to avoid injuries upon the fingers.Be clear in the line of the saw blade
when sawing and avoid placing the direction of sawing towards an individual.
Cutter: Avoid placing fingers under the blades and in the direction motion of cutting to
prevent accidentally cut the hands as well as making sure to retract back the blades once it is
done using.
Apply same requirements of cardboard for front (B1), center (B2,B3), back
(B4), side (front part) (B5), and side (back part)(B6). Dimension of each body
11

part are stated in Table 1. Draw a curve with front part (B1) by using
compasses.
After that, cellophane tape is used for inside and outside part of every single
pieces of cardboard to increase the strength of cardboard.
Grids at right and left (front) have a depth of 1cm and the width of each grid is
the total length (80mm) divided by 7 which is approximately equal to 11.4mm.
Grids at right and left (back) have a depth of 10mm same as front part and the
width of each grid is the total length (250mm) divided by 13 which is
approximately equal to 19.2mm.
Glue back part (B6) with base (B7) and then with side (back part)(B6), center
(B3,B2),side (front part)(B5) and front (B1).
Add on two pieces of sponge in the space for 600ml of water bottle.
Other than that, cut a sponge which can fit into front box where egg is place as
fundamental of egg protector and glue cotton wool at the inside surface of
cardboard to reduce impact of egg and cardboard.

Prepare two conduit pipes (axle) from 3 meters of conduit pipe which have
length with 190mm and 200mm, 25mm of diameter (can be smaller but make
sure that the diameter should be smaller than the diameter of seal tape) by
using small hand saw.
13
Engineering Foundations- Principles and Communication
Stick contiub pipe under the body of prototype with silicone gun ensure the
center point of pipe meet to the center point of cardboard to make prototype
balance.
Place seal tape(wheel) 10mm inward count from the end of conduit pipe.
Enclose the 10mm by cellophane tape. Reserve a little space between seal tape
and cellophane tape. Apply same method to the other three seal tape (wheel)
According to safety, the thickness of cellophane tape enclosed conduit pipe
should be thicker that small diameter of seal tape to prevent seal tape fall out
from conduit pipe (axle).

21
Engineering Foundations- Principles and Communication
4.1 Introduction
The following risk management plan was designed and planned to predict as well as provide
essential possible risk and hazard that might occur during the process of design, construction
and the test run of the project.A number of steps in means of mitigation will also be provided
in contrast for the solution of the potential risk and danger hazard to prevent accidents and
injury.

Engineering Foundations- Principles and Communication
1. During the drawing and designing the project, designers may apply too much stress
and force upon the pencil which will break the pencil lead and cause damage both
the design project and the designer.Hence, it is recommended that the designer are
to be reminded to use the pencil with suitable force and grip onto it as to avoid
potential risk from happening. It is also warned that the broken pencil lead debris may
float in air which may cause harm to the designers.
2. Designers may require the usage of the computer for the designing of the project that
requires 3D models via a 3D application from the computer. It is recommended for the
designers to take breaks between each hour from the computer screen as it can
cause eye sore if due to radiation emitting from the LCD screen.Safety precaution
steps is also taken for the excessive usage of the computer in which it may lead to
the computer screen overheating.
3. Designers are reminded to always save data on every changes made to the design in
the computer so that any loss data experienced by the computer will be saved and
be able to restore back previous work session. This step is very crucial so that the
designers will be able to resume their work efficiently and save their time as well as
energy if there is a sudden shutdown of the computer. It is best to avoid unknown
website so that it can prevent a virus or malware attack though some are
undetectable.

Engineering Foundations- Principles and Communication
1. During construction, the following project requires the usage of rubber band in which it
will be placed in a stretched state and under strain. The contractors should be careful
when handling the rubber bands when it come to stretch the rubber bands from one
notch to the other. It is suggested to add more rubber bands when one rubber bands
has reached its limits as to avoid from breaking the rubber bands. It is warned that
certain rubber bands may be old rubber bands.
2. The following construction of the project may require the cutting of the conduit pipe in
which is very harmful and is to be taken serious measures on the safety on the
contractors when handling the conduit pipe. This is because the conduit pipe debris
may fly towards the eyes and it is suggested for the contractors to wear safety
goggles when cutting the conduit pipe.It also warned that contractors should be
careful from accidentally inhaling the conduit pipe debris.
3. When building the following project,it is expected that the contractors may require to
lift heavy objects like hammers, spanners, silicon gun and more.Contractors should be
aware of the surrounding and placed the heavy object on suitable places that is
stable as to avoid contractors from tripping or accidentally kicking the object which
may cause great harm towards the contractors.
24
Engineering Foundations- Principles and Communication
1. During the test run of the project, it is very likely that the project may suffer high
damage from the 1m fall due to the low rigidness and sturdiness of the materials
used for the body of the project. The contractors should be careful at all times when
conducting a test run on the following projects and it suggested for the tires of the
project to be made out of plastic materials. This is because the usage of plastic
materials can absorb and reduce the impact force experienced by the project as well
as provide safety to the load.
2. As the project descends from the inclined plane, there is a high possibility that the
project might flip over due to the uneven weight displacement by the load. The
contractors should reconsider the balance of the project and the proper weight
displacement in which it will change when the test run is conducted. It is also
suggested for the contractors to be aware on the suitable place for the load to be
placed so as to achieve a well balanced and good weight displacement of the project.
3. The tires of the project is a great feature that is very critical for the movement of the
project especially on the inclined plane as it goes down. Therefore, the contractors can
25
Engineering Foundations- Principles and Communication
reduce the surface area of the wheel which it can be very helpful in providing a
smooth pathway with reduced friction occurring onto the wheels of the project. This
also helps the axle to reduce less stress acting upon it and enables the wheels to
rotate more freely without the weight of the project acting upon it too much.It is
warned for the contractors to be aware on the sudden not responding rotation of the
wheels.
