RESEARCH AND DEVELOMENT AGENDA
2016-2020

BACKGROUND

Research is one of the major thrust of the university, it sets apart the
higher education from the basic education (NHERA, 2009). These higher
education institutions are expected to generate new knowledge through
conduct of research. Thus, the Ifugao State University, being the lone
higher education in Ifugao, embraces Research as one of its main thrust. As
such, the university is committed to deliver research programs in order to
foster development for better quality of life among its constituents (RDET
Manual, 2016).

The College of Advanced Education of IFSU, catering the masters and


doctorate degree programs of the university is also committed to conduct
research. It is mandated to provide global advanced education to
professionals. One of its masters degree is the Master of Arts in Education
(MAED) major in Educational Management. This program, aside from
developing professionals that exhibits managerial responsibility, it is also
geared towards development of professional that applies research
capabilities for replicating, verifying and contextualizing theoretical and
practical knowledge on different aspects of the educational process.

Clearly, the MAED program major in educational management is


committed to help in the attainment of its mandate and at the same time
promote the development of its students through conduct of research. As
such, a research and development agenda is then prepared to serve as
guide for students and professors in said specialization.

PROCESS FRAMEWORK

The research agenda of the MAED major in Educational management


is formulated through concerted efforts of its various stakeholders. The
administration, faculty, students, partner agencies and their clienteles have
worked together to come up with research agenda of the Master of Arts in
Education major in Educational Management.

The formulation of the Research agenda is anchored on the following


international, national, and local commitments:

1. The Millenium Development Goals (MDGs) , these are eight


international development goals to eradicate extreme poverty and
hunger, reduce child mortality rates, improve maternal health, combat
diseases, ensure environmental sustainability, achieve universal
primary education, gender equality, and develop global partnership
for development by the year 2015.
2. The UNESCO World Declaration on Higher Education for the Twenty-
first Century acknowledges that higher education institutions are
among the primary entities tasked to generate, transmit, disseminate
and apply knowledge. They are thus a major component of the
nations research and innovation system.
3. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), endorses Research
Agenda based on issues and concerns in Higher Education
encapsulated in the National Higher Education Research Agenda-2
(NHERA-2) 2009-2018. The NHERA provides the policies, directions,
priorities and thrusts of Philippine higher education research in the
medium to long term.
4. The Ifugao State University Research Development Agenda provides
the research program priorities of the university that will lead to
attainment of societal and sectoral.

PURPOSE

1. To set focus and direction on research and development efforts of the


Master of Arts in Education that will address pressing needs of its
stakeholders;

2. To assist in providing evidence based solutions to pressing needs of


the university and the society.

3. To serve as a basis to maximize resource utilizations and minimize


duplication of research efforts.
