Part Two

The Panel of Truth

ALEXANDRA ELLEN MILLS

Part Two:
The Panel of Truth
NOTE TO THE DIRECTOR

The Panel of Truth is an extreme contrast to The Game of Truth and Death as it explores the
reality and eternal joy of being a Christian. Its aim is to be fun, while explaining the Gospel
and who we are in Christ.

If you have talented comedians amongst your group, please, make it (clean) funny and add to
the script. If you have a young person who has a quirk or amazing talent, this is your time to
let them entertain. I have tried my best to portray this message in a contemporary and fun
way that is Bible based.

I hope you have fun performing The Panel of Truth, entertaining while proclaiming the word
of God.

On the stage there are five seats facing the audience (if you have the space,

[Applause]

Rye A man dies and goes to heaven. St. Peter meets him at the pearly gates.

St. Peter says, "Here's how it works. You need 100 points to make it into
heaven. You tell me all the good things you've done, and I give you a certain

number of points for each item, depending on how good it was. When you
reach 100 points, you get in."
"Okay" the man says, "I attended church every Sunday"
"That's good, says St. Peter,” that's worth two points"
"Two points?" he says. "Well, I gave 10% of all my earnings to the church"
“Well, let's see," answers Peter, "that's worth another 2 points. Did you do
anything else?"
"Two points? Golly. How about this: I started a soup kitchen in my city and
worked in a shelter for homeless veterans."
"Fantastic, that's certainly worth a point, " he says.
"hmmm...," the man says, "I was married to the same woman for 50 years and
never cheated on her, not even in my heart."
"That's wonderful," says St. Peter, "that's worth three points!"
"THREE POINTS!!" the man cries, "At this rate the only way I get into
heaven is by the grace of God!"
"Come on in!"

[Applause]

Hi, I‟m Rye Tios the host of The Panel of Truth and thank you for tuning in
with us today on Paradise Station. That was an astounding performance of I
Believe by Sally Tinkle. Next to me, I have of course, the wonderful Ho Lee
and our guests – St Mary on the right and St Peter on the left. [Applause] So,
Pete, how are you going?

Peter I‟m great thanks Rye, I love that joke by the way, but it is so true. The only
way any of us can get to heaven is by the Grace of God. This is so not
understood by people today.

Ho You raise a fantastic point Pete. Just this morning I received a letter from a
young guy, Sam, he‟s only seventeen. He said, „Being a Christian is just too
hard. I‟m reading through the Old Testament! I can‟t follow all the rules. It‟s
just too hard. Please help me! I‟m about to give up on living for God!‟ What
do you think of that Mary?

Part Two:
The Panel of Truth
Mary Sam, honey, if you are listening; don‟t give up. Living for God can be hard.
Give yourself a pat on the back Sam, because not many people try to follow
those rules. They are great rules, but we are human, no one is perfect.

Rye Mary is right, no one is perfect and the fact you are willing to follow Jesus is
an amazing thing! In Romans Paul also reminds us that we are not slaves of
the law. We all know Jesus lived a perfect life and he obeyed God‟s rules in
the Old Testament 100%. Now, when we turn to Jesus and ask him to be Lord
of our lives, his perfect record becomes ours. We aren‟t just seen sinless before
God, he also see‟s us as having obeyed all the rules in the Old Testament.

Ho Sam, if you genuinely love God and want to follow him and it sounds like you
do, doing the right thing will come simpler as you read the Bible, pray and
share God with other Christians. Yes, God expects us to obey him, but he
doesn‟t expect perfect obedience; he expects you to be sincere. Thanks for
your letter, Sam! If you want to write to us, simply e-mail your questions and
comments to wereprayingforyou@truth.god.au and we will be with you right
after this break!

SCENE THREE – MY CHURCH GOT TALENT!

Angelica ‘Ha-le-lujuah’ can be heard in the background (can be panel singing, doesn’t
have to be good). Angelica comes on stage.

Yo‟, Can you sing this? Well how about yo‟ whole church, pitch perfect? Or
maybe your church can sit in silence for longer than any other. Whatever it is,
if yo‟ church got talent we want you! So, whether your congregation can sing
out „amen brother‟ louder than anyone else, or yo‟ host the best Family BBQ
visit our site, mychurchgottalent.god.au and register.

SCENE FOUR

Rye laughing whilst reading a piece of paper. Hi and welcome back to the Panel of
Truth, I‟m Rye Tious. Now, during that break I just got an e-mail from little
Emma, who is only 12 years old. She was wondering how long Ho could stand
on one leg and sing „Father Abraham...‟

5|Page ©alexandraellen
Part Two:
The Panel of Truth
Ho ...had many sons, many sons had Father Abraham... Easy! The show would
never end.

Peter Hang on! I‟d pay to see this... but with only one breathe between. I bet you
won‟t get past your right foot.

Ho (getting up from his seat to stand centre stage. Rye takes out his phone to
record it when he realises how priceless this moment is) I‟ll show ya... (takes a
deep breath) and sings really fast

Father Abraham had many sons, many sons, many sons had Father Abraham, I
am one of them, and so are you – so let‟s all praise the Lord; right arm

Father Abraham had many sons, many sons, many sons had Father Abraham, I
am one of them, and so are you – so let‟s all praise the Lord; right arm, left
arm (takes his big breath)

Father Abraham had many sons, many sons, many sons had Father Abraham, I
am one of them, and so are you – so let‟s all praise the Lord; right arm, left
arm, right foot

Father Abraham had many sons, many sons, many sons had Father Abraham, I
am one of them, and so are you – so let‟s all praise the Lord; right arm, left
arm , right foot, left foot! AND THAT‟S HOW WE DO IT HERE AT
PARADISE STATION!!! (Everyone is laughing, but basically ignores any
attempt Ho uses to try and gain glory)

Rye Ho, I am saving for your child‟s 21st birthday party! Thank you Peter for
encouraging him, but I am wondering have you done that task?

Ho Task, what task?

Rye Last week Lucy from WA, wrote-in and asked if it was possible to get this
week‟s guests to do some homework before they came on today. She asked if
they could share who they believe they are in Christ. I, knowing what St Mary
is like, put a three word limit on it... But Peter, would you like to go first?

6|Page ©alexandraellen
Part Two:
The Panel of Truth
Peter Well, mine is simple, God loves me! My identity is based on the fact that he
loved me enough to sacrifice himself on the cross so I can live with him
forever.

Mary Now, I know his three words were „God loves me‟, but his explanation was
more, so that means I can have more words. (Mary grins, everyone else sighs.)
Now Lucy, I hope you are listening, honey, this is for you. (you do not have to
read the bible references, but they are there for your reference, this is a lot of
text, but can be made interesting. Mary should make it melodramatic and the
other members need to react. What she is saying is good, it’s just Mary, being
Mary!)

“I declare who I am. I am a Warrior Princess.

I am a warrior of the Lords Army. My shield is God Most High (Psalm 7:10)
and no weapon formed against me shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). I am in the
Lords battle and I am fighting hard, strong with Jesus as my strength. I will
stand firm, ready, protected and equipped with the armour of God. The belt of
truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the helmet of
salvation, the sword of the Spirit and my feet fitted with the readiness that
comes from the gospel of peace (Ephesians 6:10-17). I stand my ground and
will not be moved or shaken (Psalm 15:5) for victory belongs to the Lord
(Psalm 44:7).

I am a princess of the King of Kings and have been clothed in his glory and
honour (psalm 104:1). I am beautiful (Ecclesiastes 3:11), loved (John 3:16),
adorned (Ezekiel 16:11) and chosen (1 Thessalonians 1:4). I have a heart of
compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience (Colossians 3:12). I
am under the governing authority of the Lord (Romans 13:1) and have the
authority of Jesus Christ given to me. I strive to serve and love the people
around me in order to lead them (Matthew 20:26-28).

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 5:13).”

Ho Thanks for that Mary, and that takes us near the end of the program today, but
before we go... Rye, what is the word of the week?

7|Page ©alexandraellen
Part Two:
The Panel of Truth
Rye The word of the week is, „repent‟ – Peter, you have 30 seconds to explain the
word of the week. Time starts – now! (makes a tic-toc sound)

Peter (speaks under pressure) The Greek word for Repent; Metanoia translates to „a
change in mind and will‟. Most people think that repent means to turn around.
However repentance, a change in your attitude towards Jesus as Lord occurs
after you turn away from sin towards God...

Ho and that is time for today! I would like to thank our special guests, St Mary
and St Peter, and my co-host Rye. We will be leaving you tonight our
rendition of Father Abraham. God Bless, see you next week.

The play can either end here, or the cast and crew can sing Father Abraham
and encourage audience participation. This is always a fun, childhood
memory relived.
