Candidates Statement
As I travel the USA and the world on business I often meet with fellow alumni and sense a significant disconnect between
alumni, the school administration and the CAA. Ive seen alumni chastised in the Alumni News for speaking their minds
rather than going along to get along with the administration. The Citadel network is only as strong as our ability to
engage in dialog and disagreement as we move forward. Further to this, the CAA should always respectfully present
alumni positions to the BOV and Administration. Listening to the voice of dissent is in the best interests of the long grey
line. We must respectfully engage in these hard conversations. If elected I will represent each of you and stand by the
positions we take as loyal alumni in Georgia.
Ive seen to many take a position that the CAA should be a one way pipeline to broadcast and support every decision
made on campus. While this is certainly a function of the CAA, it should equally be a conduit back to campus to express
alumni positions, especially if the alumni community is in disagreement. I promise to always speak your truth to those in
Charleston and to present the unfiltered campus voice back to each of you. Honest, open and timely communication is
paramount to building strength upon strength in our Alumni Association.
As an administrator on multiple private Citadel social media pages, I am convinced that we are missing an opportunity to
connect alumni via this new media. I will work to change that and to communicate in every way to reach as many alumni
as possible. Simply stated, we need to embrace the new as we hold to our traditions and move forward.
As a board member on the LTC Harvey Dick Ringmans fund, a scholarship fund to purchase rings for seniors in financial
need, I have seen the excitement on the faces of those who receive their ring when they thought it was out of reach. This
is true for most every scholarship on campus. I pledge to work with each of your clubs to help you to support The Citadel
Foundation. I hope each of you and your respective clubs can also chose a cause and support the school that did so
much for us.
As we transition to a new school president I will be transparent in reporting to GA alumni and be available to attend your
meetings, take your calls and to represent your positions to the CAA. I am asking for your support and welcome your
calls +1.770.656.6237.
