The Feast of Trumpets

Num 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first of the month,
you shall have a holy convocation. You shall do no labouring work.
It is a day of blowing the trumpets to you.
Num 10:2 Make two trumpets of silver for yourself. You shall
make them of beaten work. And they shall be used for the calling of
the assembly and for causing the camps to go forward.
Num 10:8 And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the
trumpets. And they shall be to you for an ordinance forever
throughout your generations.

Background
The Festivals (mo-ed) are the Appointed Times of YHVH and are divided into
two main groups; the Spring Festivals and the Fall Festivals. The Spring
Festivals; Passover (Pesach), Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, are associated
with the First Coming of Messiah Yshua, and Pentecost (Shavuot) is
associated with the Coming or Anointing of YHVHs Spirit upon all flesh. The
Fall Festivals are associated with Yshuas Second Coming, that is; Yom
Teruah (Feast of Trumpets), Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur) and
Tabernacles (Sukkot). We are celebrating the Feast of Trumpets today, and
this feast is also known as the Day of Blowing or the Day of Shouting.
The moedim or Appointed Times signify the restoration work of Messiah,
when He came and will come as the Right Arm of YHVH, doing work in the
physical to restore His Fallen Creation back to the Garden of Eden state, as
it was, before sin came into this world. We are part of YHVHs Creation, and
He made these divine appointments with humanity to restore every person
to a glorified state, like Adam was before sin destroyed the spiritual
connection leaving man with a fallen inferior nature.

1
Yom Teruah
The Feast of Trumpets consists of two Words yom meaning day and
teruah, which means blowing. We are going to look at these two words to
get more insight into this Festival.
Yom is an indication of time, meaning to be hot; a day (as the warm
hours), whether literal (from sunrise to sunset, or from one sunset to the next),
age, daily, life, now, old, time, (full) year(-ly).
Yom has the gematria of 56 and links to the following words, sharing this
number:
aw-nah meaning to meet, encounter, to approach.
Ahuzam meaning possessor, YHVH the Possessor of
Heaven and Earth.
kool meaning to seize, to contain, to measure.
Bedan meaning in judging (being judged).
na-ah meaning abode of Shepherd, habitation.
naw-ah meaning to be beautiful.
ay-mah meaning terror, dread.

Spiritual Insight: All these meanings support what yom or the Day of
YHVH is all about; it is a time when humankind will meet their Maker,
encountering the Possessor of Heaven and Earth, when He will come to
measure and to judge all of humanity. Those who are inside the thorny hedge
under the Shepherds protection, in the shadow of the Almighty will be safe.
Those who diligently studied His Word, will be ready, and just as the Bride,
prepared in her beauty, they will be safe. But dread and terror will come on
those who are full of spots and blemishes. and rejected His Word.

Yom and Prophetic Cycles

Q What Time is it?
The Disciples asked Yshua in Matthew 24 when the
time of the end will be, and the time of His Coming.
People have asked this question since Yshuas first
Coming 2000 years ago, and that makes this question
even more relevant to us living in this day and age.
When a particular time is connected to a significant
event, it is vital to know when that time will arrive, in
order to be prepared for the event. Prophecy works in
a similar way. It is an appointment or event that is scheduled to happen at a
specific time or day. Just like having a hair appointment, knowing what will
happen will not benefit you unless you know the time it will happen. YHVHs
prophetic words are given in Scripture for a specific purpose and that purpose

2
is mainly to restore back His Creation. All the moedim are prophetic in
nature and they point to a time in the future when an event will happen.
Some appointed times have already happened but will still play a part in the
fulfillment of a larger prophetic cycle that will climax on that final time or day
of YHVH, after which all will be complete. Asking what the time is, is actually
asking when this day will come when everything will be accomplished
according to the Plan of YHVH as revealed through His prophetic cycles.
There are two Festivals that use the term Yom in their titles; these are the
Feast of Trumpets, or Yom Teruah, and the Day of Atonement or Yom
Kippur. Both these Appointed times are associated with the Day of YHVH
as discovered previously in the meaning of the word yom. This puts the
emphasis on these two moedim and we are living at the time when that
day draws near. This means it is even more important to increase our
knowledge regarding these two Fall Festivals.

Teruah Blowing the Trumpet or Shophar

Num 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first
of the month, you shall have a holy convocation.
You shall do no labouring work. It is a day of
blowing the trumpets to you.

Blowing the Trumpets is the word teruah

meaning acclamation of joy or a battle-cry; especially
clangour of trumpets, sounding alarm, blow(-ing) (of,
the) (trumpets), joy, jubilee, loud noise, rejoicing,
shout(-ing), (high, joyful) sound(-ing). It comes from
the root word ruah meaning to split the ears
(with sound), i.e. shout (for alarm or joy):blow an
alarm, cry (alarm, aloud, out), destroy, make a joyful
noise, smart, shout (for joy), sound an alarm, triumph.

Ruah is used in several places in Scripture,

each in another context and application.
The first occurrence is about gathering the people, and this is in the context of
the Feast of Trumpets:
Num 10:1-7 And YHVH spoke to Moses, saying: 2 Make two silver
trumpets for yourself; you shall make them of hammered work; you
shall use them for calling the congregation and for directing the
movement of the camps. 7 And when the assembly is to be gathered
together, you shall blow, but not sound the advance.
The second occurrence is during a time of war, sounding the alarm, and you
will be remembered before YHVH, and He will save you:

3
Num 10:9 When you go to war in your land against the enemy who
oppresses you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, and
you will be remembered before YHVH your Elohim, and you will be
saved from your enemies.
This is a very powerful verse that most Believers in Messiah do not
comprehend. It says that when your enemies come up against you, you
should sound the alarm (ruah), blow the trumpet and YHVH WILL save you
from their hand. Why dont we do this, because we do not realise how
powerful a weapon the blowing of the Trumpet is, or we do not believe it is for
today.
The third occurrence of ruah is used in the context of entering the Promised
Land, when blowing on the Trumpets and Shophars caused the walls of
Jericho to crumble.
Josh 6:5 It shall come to pass, when they make a long blast with the
rams horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, that all the
people shall shout with a great shout; then the wall of the city will fall
down flat. And the people shall go up every man straight before him.
The theme of blowing the Trumpets is very significant, during the Feast of
Yom Teruah in the context of entering the Promised Land under the
leadership of Yshua, and also in the context of the seven Trumpets in the
Book of Revelation. All of these themes tie together, showing us what time
or yom it is, and what we can expect when sounding the trumpet. We are
also shown what to expect when we hear the sound of the last seven
trumpets before entering the Promised Land.

Prophetic Timeframe - Entering the Land of

Promise
The Seven Festivals tell the story of Israel leaving Egypt, until they entered
the Promised Land. Our aim is to place the two Yom titled Festivals on this
timeframe to see where they sit in relation to Yshuas First and Second
Comings.
1. Passover represents leaving Egypt.
2. Unleavened Bread represents leaving sin and Bondage as the Israelites
travelled through the Red Sea. The Red Sea represents the separation of
yourself from the authority of the enemy and is symbolised by the Mikvah
(Baptism) in the Name of Yshua the Messiah.
3. First Fruits connects Passover and Shavuot and represents the wilderness
between Egypt and Mount Sinai. First Fruits is the time associated with
receiving supernatural food or manna.
4. Shavuot (Pentecost) represents the receiving of the Covenant and the
Ten Commandments on Mt Sinai. This was fulfilled by the outpouring and
anointing of YHVHs Holy Spirit. These first four Festivals connect and
reveal the work Messiah has done during His First Coming.

4
5. Then the Israelites
travelled through the
Wilderness and before
they came to the River
Jordan, they
encountered two
Mountains. Mount Ebal,
was the Mountain of
curses, and Mount
Gerizim, was the
Mountain of blessings.
This period is associated
with the first Feast titled
Yom, that relates to the
Day of YHVH. Yom
Teruah or the Feast of
Trumpets is the
Appointed Time that
starts with a Wilderness
experience and leads
through the river Jordan,
similar to crossing the
Red Sea, but this time it is connected with Judgement. Jordan means
river of judgement. After passing through the River Jordan, symbolising
the Great Tribulation, the Israelites faced the first City in the Promised
Land, Jericho. We will look at this city a bit later in this study.
6. Yom Kippur is connected to the Day of YHVH through the word
yom in its title, and is an extension of YHVHs Judgement called the
Winepress or the Thousand Year Peace. YHVHs final judgement happens
at the end of this period after Satan will be released.
7. The Feast of Trumpets or Sukkot is the final Appointed Time that
concludes the restoration work of Yshua, with the New Jerusalem
descending onto the earth after the earth and heaven have been renewed.

The Sighting of Jericho

Looking at the theme of blowing the trumpet and the Day of YHVH in the
context of entering the Promised Land, places Jericho right in this timeframe
and makes it very significant.
Jericho is the word yericho meaning its moon
and can be rendered into the meaning, city of the moon.
What is interesting is that Jericho is connected to Yom
Teruah because it is the only Festival that is celebrated at
the sighting of the new moon, when the first sliver is
visible. This Feast is also known as the day or yom
when no one knows the day or the hour, because of the
sighting of the moon. This is confirmed by Jerichos root
word yerach meaning moon.

5
The story of Jericho is familiar to most people, when Israel marched around
the City once every day, and on the seventh day walked around it seven times
and blew the trumpets.
Josh 6:6-8,15-16,20 So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said
to them, Take up the ark of the covenant of YHVH and have seven
priests carry trumpets in front of it. 7 And he ordered the army,
Advance! March around the city, with an armed guard going ahead of
the ark of YHVH.15 On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and
marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that
on that day they circled the city seven times. 16 The seventh time around,
when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the
army, Shout! For YHVH has given you the city! 20 When the trumpets
sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the
men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight
in, and they took the city.
The number seven was very prominent when seven Priests, blowing seven
trumpets, walked around the City seven times with the Ark of the Covenant,
on the seventh day. This destroyed the walls of the City that is called its
moon, as if to say after the dark moon, look, its the new moon! This
connects with the Feast of Yom Teruah that links with the Seven Trumpets of
the Book of Revelation, causing the walls of Babylon to be destroyed.
Seven is the word sheba that comes from the root
word shaba, which means to take an oath, or curse,
where an oath was confirmed either by seven sacrifices or
seven witnesses. The seven trumpets blown here at Jericho
and the seven trumpets blown in Revelation are the seven
witnesses confirming the oath, or covenant between YHVH and
His people, as well as the curses, for those who are not YHVHs
people. The blowing of the seven trumpets establishes this in their
midst.

Spiritual Insight: The Feast of Trumpets relates to the yom, that refers to
the Day of YHVH and specifically, the time of the Tribulation. It also relates to
Jericho, with the sighting of the moon and the number seven, that relates to
the oath or Covenant as well as the curses or judgements. All these
meanings are found in the Book of Revelation, specifically where it reveals the
curses when the seven witnesses (angels) will be sounding their trumpets.

7 Trumpets 7 Days, 7 Periods and 7 Years

The Seven Trumpets about the Yom of Yom Teruah, place emphasis on the
time of the blowing of each of these trumpets (teruah). This divides the
seven Trumpets into seven time periods, or seven years, which correlate with
the seven-year period of the Tribulation, an indication of the end of YHVHs
restoration period (yom). The number seven connects these thoughts to the
seven time periods or days in the beginning of time, which are the seven
yoms or days of Creation.

6
This reveals the Beginning of Creation and the end of Creation (re-creation,
restoration), both signified by a seven yom time period. We will now look at
these seven periods at the beginning (Aleph), overlayed with the seven
periods at the End (Tav), to reveal the Creation and Re-Creation work of the
Messiah (Aleph-Tav).
The Seven Trumpets of Revelation are seven years (yom) when YHVH will be
breaking down the walls of Jericho that surround His Creation, which came
into existence through a seven-day (yom) period. It is as if Jericho represents
the Garden of Eden, which has been surrounded by man-made walls This
has created the City of Babylon by the substitution of what YHVH created, by
that which was modified by man, just like the Tower of Babel agenda in the
first instance.
Walking around the City of Jericho, the blowing of the seven trumpets by the
seven priests witnesses, together with the rest of Israel, caused these walls
to tumble and fall down, opening up access to the Garden of Eden. This
prophetic event points to the future event where the seven trumpets will be
blown by seven angels (witnesses), and the walls surrounding YHVHs
Creation will come tumbling down.
This makes the seven Trumpets of Revelation, within the timeframe of Yom
Teruah, the future event where YHVH will break down the walls of Babylon
and rebuild the City of Jerusalem as revealed in the Book of Nehemiah.
Yom Teruah represents a phase in the Prophetic Timeframe when Israel
travelled through the last stages of the Wilderness, to the point where they
reached and crossed the Jordan. These two areas represent the two stages
described in Matt 24 as the Time of sorrows, which goes hand in hand with
the birth pains, experienced
during labour and finally the
birth.
These two stages represent the
7 year Tribulation period that will
start with 3 years pre-birth-
pains leading up to the birth with
the sign of the Son of Man
appearing in the heavens,
gathering His Bride, after the
Great Tribulation. The seven
Trumpets of Revelation follow
the same prophetic pattern with
3 years of natural disaster
events leading into 3 years
of supernatural disaster
events,. This will breakdown the
walls of Babylon so that the
Kingdom of YHVH can be
restored and His New Jerusalem
can be established here on
earth.

7
Here is a summary of the Seven Trumpets, overlaying the seven days of
Creation, to signify the re-creation process and restoration of the Garden of
Eden:
1. The fire judgement of the first trumpet, described in Rev 8:7, correlates
with the light of the first day of creation. This is where one third of all green
grass and trees will be destroyed. The fire and hail falling from the sky can
be as a result of a natural disaster.
2. The second day of creation was where the waters were separated, from
the waters below, the sea, and the waters above, the heavens. During the
second trumpet judgement, Rev 8:8, there will be where a burning
mountain that will fall into the sea and kill one third of all sea life.
3. The third trumpet of Rev 8:10 affected one third of the springs and fresh
water on land when a star called Wormwood fell onto the earth. Those
who drank from this water died. The first three trumpet judgements can be
explained by a natural disaster. They form part of the time of sorrows or
birth pains that will last for half the duration of the seven-year tribulation
as described in Matt 24:1-8.
4. The fourth day of creation is when the Sun Moon and Stars were created
as signs. The fourth trumpet of Rev 8:12 where one third of the Sun, Moon
and Stars were struck and led to 4 hours darkness. This is not a natural
disaster but rather a sign in the heavens affecting the light. This trumpet
signals the transmission from the birth pains to the time called the birth
that is described in detail throughout the Book of Revelation. This will be a
physical sign in the heavens where we will look up and know the next 3
years is coming.
5. The fifth trumpet is preceded by the angel that announces the three Woes
(Rev 8:13), which makes the 5th trumpet the 1st Woe. It continues on in
Rev 9:1-11 talking about a star falling to the earth, opening up the Abyss,
releasing locust-like beings to come and punish the inhabitants of the
earth. They had a ruler and commander over them called Abbadon or
Apollyon, who is no other than the Anti-Messiah, who will rule for 3
years.
6. On the Sixth day, YHVH created beast and man. The sixth trumpet
correlates with the 2nd Woe and the gathering of the 200,000,000 troops
for the war of Armageddon, killing one third of mankind. This continues on
in Rev chapter 11 revealing the Two Witnesses prophesying for 1260 days
(3 years). Then Rev 12 reveals the Virgin in the heavens who flees into
the wilderness and is taken care of for 1260 days (3 years). Then
Chapter 13 talks about the Dragon (Serpent) who gives power to the Beast
(System), and rules for 42 months (3 years). This will be the time when
the mark of the Beast is introduced to enslave the people.

8
7. The Seventh Day is the day when YHVH
rested and created the Sabbath. The
Seventh Trumpet will be blown to
announce the King, Who is Yshua the
Messiah. The blowing of the last trumpet is
the time of the 3rd Woe when the people of
YHVH will be gathered (1 Cor 15:52
twinkling of the eye), and according
to 1 Thes 4:16, the righteous dead will
partake in the 1st Resurrection. This is the
time when Babylon will be destroyed (walls
are broken down like Jericho) and the
nations will be judged, as will those who
received the mark of the Beast.
These seven trumpets are the seven Witnesses that established YHVHs
Covenant (oath) forever and resulted in the breaking down of the Kingdoms of
the earth, where the gods that humankind worshipped, became the very
curses that judged them, just as it happened in the time when Egypt was
judged. May we be prepared for His Coming, may we be part of His Covenant
People and may we come out of Babylon, so that we will not receive the
judgements prepared for Her through the blowing of these seven Witnesses.
