Research Paper : Bullying

Feared by both students and adults, bullying is a problem that is gaining a lot of
attention around the nation. From kids messing with each other on the playground
to adults hassling each other at work, this issue is escalating to a whole new level.
The old school bullying such as simple name calling has transformed into a way that
people can get bullied no matter where they are and in any way that can even come
to mind. Bullying is such a problem, but0 people still underestimate it.

People these days can relate to the topic because of the way its spreading like a
disease. A website dedicated to the topic of bullying, Bullying Statistics, states that
one in four kids in the United States are bullied on a regular basis. It may seem like a
small number but, viewing the bigger picture, that means millions of kids are
getting bullied. This ratio almost guarantees that there will always be at least one
kids being bullied in the U.S.

Even though bullying is such a big deal, some people have brought the subject up as
an issue that people are spending too much time and money on but, people
supporting anti-bullying see it as the exact opposite. John Rosemond at a regional
news station Charlotte Observer talks about how people overreact about bullying.
He says that parents are calling what he considers as pranks to be bullying. Its this
kind of opposite view that causes the conflict to continue. This argument has been
addressed all over America and people still see bullying as a small issue. Its
underestimating this problem that leads to terror among kids and teens because
bullying isnt dealt with as seriously as it should be. Bullying is when aggressive
behavior from one person is used against another person more than once. If the
behavior is obvious and used multiple times, less effort to stop it will worsen it.

Many people dont know exactly how serious bullying is. People that have
attempted but failed to stop bullying dont fully understand what it is. How can
people stop something they cant comprehend? If people dont fully grasp bullying,
then the effects will continue to rage on. Bullying doesnt need to go on without
being stopped. It has been stopped in the past in the U.S. and can be stopped again
with the right procedures.

The effects of bullying are devastating but, it all begins with a bully. These
individuals whom people term bullies have more to them that is known to be true.
There are many reasons why someone becomes a bully. Sometimes the simplest
reasons individuals become bullies can lead to the most negative effects on not only
the bully, but on their victims as well. Causes of bullying are different in sizes and
schools. When these causes become reality, the process of bullying is already put
into motion.
Official Report : Car Accident
I am writing this letter to file a report for a car accident in which I was involved on
the 5th of February. I was driving my Hyundai i10, 9678 in Bandra when a Honda
city, 7845 came in a rush and hit me from behind. My car was totally smashed and
damaged brutally. The Honda city managed to escape from the scene immediately,
and I could not hold the driver at that moment. But I managed to take a note of his
car number which I have stated above.

The accident not only led to physical damage of the car but it has also injured me to
a great extent. My right shoulder bone has been dislocated and I have been told to
undergo an operation to fix it. I would like you to file a report against the owner
and driver of the Honda city. Please take the necessary steps, whatever it may be to
find out about them. With the help of the car number, it will be easy for you to
locate them.

Kindly look into the matter as soon as possible and revert back to me with positive
response. This is to remind you that on the 20th of February, I met with a serious car
accident with you Mr. Smith. The accident took place while I was driving down the
Oxford Street and you suddenly came driving rashly from the opposite side and
slammed my car from the front. You were driving in the wrong direction as that was
a one way road and with such a high speed that you hit my car very badly, breaking
all the front headlights.

You were certainly under alcoholic influence it seemed, and had no sense about the
road directions. It is clearly your mistake which led to the happening of this
ferocious accident. I have attached pictures of my damaged car along with this
letter for you to see the force with which my car was hit. I was majorly injured in the
accident, banging myself to the steering wheel so hard that I had a blackout
immediately. I was taken to the nearby hospital by the local people and it was
observed that I had major cuts on my head. For the next 3 days I had to stay in the
hospital for full recovery. During that time, not only did I suffer physically but also
missed 7 working days of my office.

Since it was clearly your negligence and fault, I would want you to settle my medical
bills at the hospital and also cover the cost of the repairs needed for my car. I have
attached a copy of the medical bills and the approximate cost of repair charged by
the auto repair company.

I am looking forward to your reply, in less than 15 days from the date of this letter
and in case you dont revert back I will start legal actions against you.

CEO
ABC Company

Dear Joyce,

Please accept this letter as notice of my resignation from my position as staff

accountant. My last day of employment will be June 22, 2015.

I received an offer to serve as senior accountant of a Fortune 500 company, and

after careful consideration, I realize that this opportunity is too exciting for me to
decline.

It has been a pleasure working with you and your team over the last three years.
One of the highlights of my career was collaborating with you to automate ABC
Companys accounting, financial and balance systems and setting up your
accounting infrastructure. Your company is poised for continued growth and I wish
you much success with your upcoming acquisition of XYZ Company.

I would like to help with the transition of my accounting duties so that systems
continue to function smoothly after my departure. I am available to help recruit and
train my replacement, and I will make certain that all reporting and records are
updated before my last day of work.

Joyce, thank you again for the opportunity to work for ABC Company. I wish you
and your staff all the best and I look forward to staying in touch with you. You can

Complaint Letter
Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing today to complain of the poor service I received from your company on
June 12, 2016. I was visited by a representative of That Awful Company, Mr.
Madman, at my home on that day.

Mr. Madman was one hour late for his appointment and offered nothing by way of
apology when he arrived at noon. Your representative did not remove his muddy
shoes upon entering my house, and consequently left a trail of dirt in the hallway.
Mr. Madman then proceeded to present a range of products to me that I had
specifically told his assistant by telephone I was not interested in. I repeatedly tried
to ask your representative about the products that were of interest to me, but he
refused to deal with my questions. We ended our meeting after 25 minutes without
either of us having accomplished anything.

I am most annoyed that I wasted a morning (and half a day's vacation) waiting for
Mr. Madman to show up. My impression of That Awful Company has been tarnished,
and I am now concerned about how my existing business is being managed by your
firm. Furthermore, Mr. Madman's inability to remove his muddy shoes has meant
that I have had to engage the services, and incur the expense, of a professional
carpet cleaner.

I trust this is not the way That Awful Company wishes to conduct business with
valued customersI have been with you since the company was founded and have
never encountered such treatment before. I would welcome the opportunity to
discuss matters further and to learn of how you propose to prevent a similar
situation from recurring. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Dear Frank,

All the best to you for the New Year! How are things going in the Land of the Rising
Sun? I must say, I really envy you getting that Tokyo gig with the company.
Somehow they overlooked me on that one and I am forced to slug it out here
through another frigid and snowy Montreal winter. Brrrr!

I heard through the grapevine that business is going well there. Rumor has it that
you guys are just about to close a big deal with the Japanese government for an M-
750 Simulator. Great news! Good for the company and good for you. Keep up the
great work!

Did you hear about Margie Bronson suddenly leaving the company just before year-
end? It was a bit of a shock to say the least. She gave one week's notice and was
gone. Nobody knows for sure what's up with her but rumors have been flying fast
and furious that she went through a bit of a personal meltdown and has now gone
underground to lick her wounds for a while. There could be some truth to that since
her long time relationship ended recently and three months ago she was passed
over for that director position that was up for grabs. I'll keep you posted when we
find out more.

As for me, I am quite busy these days on the Branscombe Systems Project. We are
entering Phase Two now, and that is expected to run for three years, at least. Frank
Schindler is Senior Project Manager and I am Team Leader of the Embedded Systems
Group. I am enjoying it so far. Whether I'll feel the same way in three years, I'm not
sure. By then I might be ready to join you in Japan.

I'm still kicking butt in the squash court and am managing to get in two or three
matches per week. What about squash in Japan? Have you been able to play any
over there? Are there even any squash courts? I suppose since you are in Tokyo
there must be some. Let me know.

I have to go now and attend to family duties. Jonathon needs some help with his
homework and Angie wants me to fix something in the kitchen. You single guys
traveling the world sure are lucky!

Your squash buddy, Dave

Journal Entry
Saturday, October 6, 2007

What a busy day today! I never had a moments rest. The day started with my alarm
clock blaring at 7am. I had to be at the Smiths house by 8am to baby-sit. I really
didnt want to wake up so early on a Saturday, but Im saving money to buy a new
iPod and couldnt say no to an all-day babysitting job.

When I arrived at the Smiths house, both kids were already awake. Madison was
watching cartoons in living room and Jacob was playing with his Legos in his
bedroom. The kids were hungry so I made them some oatmeal in the microwave
and we all ate breakfast together.

We had to leave right after breakfast for Jacobs soccer practice. Luckily, the Smiths
only live a couple blocks from the soccer field so we just walked there. It was a lot of
fun watching Jacob play soccer. Hes very talented. I was worried that Madison
might be bored, but she stayed busy by playing her Gameboy while Jacob practiced.

When practice was over, we went back to the house to make lunch. Its always a
breeze to make lunch for the Smith kids because they love chicken nuggets and
French fries. All I had to do was pull the food out of the freezer and bake it in the
oven.

After lunch, I planned a special surprise for the kids...I took them to see the new
Disney movie. The movie theater is a few miles away from their house so I had to
call my mom to pick us up in her car and drive us there. The kids loved the movie;
they couldnt stop laughing. I have to admit that I thought it was pretty funny too.
The only bad part was that the theater had the air conditioning cranked up and it
was freezing cold!

My mom picked us up again after the movie and took us back to the Smiths house.
We had only been back for a few minutes when Mrs. Smith came back home. I didnt
expect her home so soon, but she was back early because the power went out at her
office.

It worked out very well though because as soon as I left the Smiths, Danielle called
to see if I wanted to go to the mall. I checked in at home to make sure it was ok and
then met Danielle at her house.

While we were at the mall, we definitely shopped til we dropped. I bought a t-

shirt, a sweater, a pair of jeans, and some flip flops. I know that I wont need the flip
flops for much longer since its already October, but they were on clearance and I
couldnt pass them up.
Diary Entry
Im still lying in my bed, when I woke up this
morning .I was just trying to think about a reason
for getting up. But why would I get up, theres
nothing to eat, nothing I can do at day, except for
lying in my bed and just try to be as quiet as I can.
Im feeling terrible and sad in a world that I cannot
fathom. I just cant believe why this is all happening
to me.

Trying to get myself together I decided to walk

very quietly to the place where we can get water.
As quiet as I can, I tried to fill my glass. Sometimes
Im just feeling like my life isnt making any change
to this world, feeling like Im worthless, nobody else
than someone I cant be and I dont want to be.
Feelings I cant handle and never share with
anyone. Feelings that are carved in my life, nothing
I can change about it.

Drinking my glass of water, I realise what this has

all done to me. This war took away my life, my
freedom and everything I liked about it. It just took
away the things I loved the most about this world.
Getting crazy of this situation, Im asking myself, if I
will ever get my life back again.
Online Article: Courting Disaster
Weather creates storms. Its people who turn them into disasters, as this summer
has made all too clearfrom Texas and Louisiana, facing the devastating aftermath
of Hurricane Harvey, to India, Nepal, and Bangladesh, where monsoon floods have
killed more than 1,400 people in a single month.
In the United States, Harvey presents perhaps the starkest illustration since
Hurricane Sandy of the kinds of disasters we are capable of concocting. And as with
all such extreme weather events, the slow disaster most directly precipitating this
immediate one is climate change, making storms and floods more frequent and
fearsome than they otherwise would have been.
Unless you deny climate change exists outrightas several members of the Trump
administration doits hard to argue that there isnt something at least a little
unnatural about Harvey. Penn State climate scientist Michael Mann argues that the
storm surge from Harvey was seven inches higher than it would have been just a
few decades ago thanks to sea level rise. Harvey benefited from hotter-than-
average temperatures in the waters where it brewed: average sea surface
temperatures in the Gulf have risen about 0.5 degrees Celsius in recent decades, and
as Harvey approached in August, stood at up to 4C above average. Not only are
the surface waters of the Gulf of Mexico unusually warm right now, Mann wrote,
but there is a deep layer of warm water that Harvey was able to feed upon when it
intensified at near record pace as it neared the coast. As a result, Houston is now
dealing with the aftermath of the third 500-year flood the city has experienced in
the last three years.
Environmental Protection Agency head Scott Pruitt, meanwhile, called it
opportunistic and misplaced to talk about climate change in the storms wake,
telling Breitbart radio that, to look at things like this and to talk about a cause and
effect really isnt helping the people of Texas right now. Worth mentioning, too, is
that Pruitt has spent the better part of his tenure as EPA director trying to peel back
regulations that would cap greenhouse gas emissions. Hes currently gearing up for
a government-funded Red Team-Blue Team debate on the reality of climate
changewith help from the Heartland Institute, a climate-denying think tank
copiously funded by the oil and gas industries.
Even if Pruitt is right and tides arent rising, Harvey still would have hit the Gulf
harder than it should have. Storms happen all the time in nature, from solar flares to
Martian dust storms. No one would care much if a hurricane of Harveys scale struck
some unpopulated stretch of land or spun out to sea. The difference when they hit
places like Houstonthe nations fourth most populous cityis that people do live
there, and that those people are organized in particular ways: by racism and
capitalism and any number of other structuring forces in society, themselves
sharing a web of connections to one another.
In the case of Houston itself: The Magnolia City has long been heralded by
libertarians as a kind of case study for no-holds-barred development, un-zoned and
untainted by regulations andby extensiona playground for enterprising real
estate moguls. As a ProPublica and Texas Tribune report last year found, there have
been 7,000 residential buildings constructed in floodplains since hurricane Katrina.
Short Story: A Little Friend
That was a bad day for our Mr. Lion King. During his chase to catch a rabbit he
sprang into a small bush from where he came out not with the rabbit but with a
large thorn in his palm.

He cried for help. He tried his best to pull out the thorn. He shook his hand, tried to
pull out the thorn with his mouth etc. but all his efforts was in vain. The thorn
began to smile at Mr. Lion.

Then he asked other animals for help. But they all feared the lion. So no animals
came to help him.

At last the lion approached the clever fox. The king asked, Can you pull out the
thorn please. I am suffering very much with pain."

The fox said, I am not very expert in this task. But I have a little friend who is very
expert in this work. I will surely ask him to help you. But I have some demands."

What are your demands?" asked the king.

It is not just food or money Your Majesty! You should allow me to give you five
kicks on your back!" the fox said.

The lion king asked with surprise and anger Do you want to kick me? Dont you
know who I am?"

I know! I know! But it is not my need to remove thorn from your palm. If you dont
want I am going. Good Bye" said the fox.

Hey! Wait! Wait!" said the lion and he began to think for a moment I am suffering
with the pain of the thorn. It has to be pulled out. Let him kick me five times. I just
want to remove the thorn. After taking the thorn I will eat up his little friend."

The fox then began to kick the Lion King with his permission. One, two, three like
that. The fox called his little friend.

There comes a little porcupine. He pulled out the thorn with great ease. The pain in
the palm of the lion was reduced. But his mind became filled with anger, grief and
disappointment. What to say! He was very much disappointed in thinking how he
can take revenge for the five kicks he got from the fox. How can he eat the
porcupine with thousands of quills? At last he had to bow down before the great
intelligence of the clever fox.
