While

praying for inspiration for this post, I was led to page 59 of The Lion, The Witch
And The Wardrobe. The children in this story had just discovered that Fauns house was
broken into and ransacked, with a note left from the secret police stating Faun (Lucys
friend) is under arrest, awaiting trial for high treason.

So a synopsis of page 59 is: when coming upon the above scene, the children begin to
voice their doubts, such as, I wonder if theres any point in going on...weve brought
nothing to eat...I dont know that Im going to like this place after all...Its getting colder
here by the minute.

But Lucy tells them, the White Witch, ...has made an enchantment over the whole
country so that it is always winter here and never Christmas. Then she reminds her
brothers and sister that the White Witch has accused Faun of comforting the Queens
enemies (humans/the children).

So now the children are faced with a serious decision. Do they retreat back into the
comfort of the English countryside, or do they press on in Narnia, searching for Mr.
Tumnus (Faun), to help him?

In other words, do they give ground to the White Witch, or do they advance the
Kingdom of God.

Similarly, we are faced with this same choice today.

For this reason I sense the caution of Holy Spiritour RESPONSE to tragedies, storms
and evil REVEALS whom we are in agreement with.

For example, Jer. 29:11 says, FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE
LORD, PLANS FOR WELFARE AND NOT FOR EVIL, TO GIVE YOU A FUTURE AND A HOPE.

Yet, it is hard to discern true Christ followers because of the hopelessness, despair,
doubt, confusion, accusation and grumbling expressed about current events in our
nation and the world.

Though the tug is real, when I find myself drifting or being pulled toward negativity, this
simple truth is my anchor.

YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR
SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR STRENGTH AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND YOUR
NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF. Luke 10:27 ESV

So Lucy and her siblings were faced with unknown territory, physical discomfort, danger
and threats from their enemy, yet they chose to go after Faun. I believe they responded
out of love, but also an inner knowing, that what they were experiencing was bigger
than them; there was a higher purpose for Narnia.

And like today, there is a higher purpose for the earth and what we are experiencing are
a type of birth pangs, for Holy Spirit says, Im doing a new thing in the earth.

After all, who is like our God?

My best, Linda
