How to make the purse

Steps to prepare:

1. Before you begin have a read through the

instructions and follow them in order. Iron
the fusible interfacing onto the wrong side
of the exterior fabric. Cut the fabric and the
interfacing pieces as instructed on the
pattern.

2. Carefully transfer all notch markings (theres

no need to cut out the notches) onto the
fabric pieces it might be tempting to skip
this, but youll make things awkward for
yourself if you do! Fig 1. Pin and stitch both exterior pieces together.

Steps to the purse exterior:

3. Matching up all edges lay the fleece pieces

onto the wrong side of each of the
corresponding exterior fabric pieces and
treat each as one layer. You can always sew
the fleece to the exterior pieces 2mm from
the edge to help keep it in place.

4. Bring the 2 exterior fabric pieces RST. Match

all edges and notches and pin See fig 1.
Stitch together from one side notch to the
other, leaving the top of the purse open.

5. Clip the curved bottom corners of the purse

exterior. Dont cut too close to the stitching! Fig 2. Clipping the curved corners will make for a

Steps to the purse lining:

6. Bring the 2 lining fabric pieces RST. Match all

edges and notches and pin. Stitch together
in the same way as the exterior pieces, but
leave a 2 gap at the bottom of the purse
See fig 3. Press seams open.

Steps to constructing the purse:

8. Stitch neatly around the top of the purse.
Be careful at the side seams as this can be a
little fiddly! Just take your time and keep
the purse as flat as possible at the sides.

9. Now using the gap left open at the bottom

of the lining, pull the lining up and over the
exterior piece so that they are both RSO
See fig 5.

10. Give both pieces a good press, and then

match up and pin the gap in the lining See
fig 6.

11. Sew the gap closed close to the edge and

then stuff the lining back inside the purse
exterior See fig 7 & 8.

12. Pin or clip the purse into the frame See fig touching.
9. (the clips are great for this and keep
everything in place!)

13. Using embroidery thread, we are now going

to sew the purse into the frame. Starting at
one side, secure your thread and come up
through the first hole and back down
through the next hole See fig 10. When
sewing back into a hole and into the lining,
position your needle at an angle; (See fig
11.) this will ensure that no stitches are
visible from the inside of the purse.

14. Continue in this way until you reach the

other side of the frame. You may have
noticed that there are gaps in the stitching-
this is because we are now going to sew
back on ourselves. This will fill in those gaps Fig 5. Using the gap left open in the lining, pull the lining
and also add strength to the purse. up and over the exterior piece so that they are both RSO.

15. Once you have finished one side of the

frame, repeat steps 12-14 for the other side
in exactly the same way. Once youre all
done, tie a knot in your thread that can be
concealed under the frame and cut away
any remaining thread. And thats it! All
finished, and you now have a super cute
coin purse :)
