Qualitative Questionnaire

1. What were your expectations from the internship and the supervisor? To what extent
were your expectations met?
My expectation was to know how consultancies work. I wanted my supervisor to impart
knowledge on various infrastructure projects, how the tenders come, how to give
responses to RFP, how and on what basis the work is awarded. I wanted to know more
about the financial appraisals of different projects.

2. How significant was your work to the organization?

I worked on relevant projects in various disciplines. One of the assignment was for
Himachal Pradesh Development Projects, one of the biggest project of our company. We
worked on that, prepared the RFP, did the cash flow analysis which was very significant for
the company.

3. How much were you encouraged by your supervisor to learn on your own and from the
community? How did you interact with your peers working on similar projects?
My supervisor Mr Divakar Daweji encouraged us to learn as much as we can. He told us to
take the best out of the internship and not just to pass the two months without learning
anything. He sent us to various sites to gain knowledge. He also arranged for a 2 weeks
internship at NHI to learn financial modelling, NHIs mechanism to appraise any projects.
We did not have any other interns with us, it was just me and my colleague from the same
college, so there was no such peer interaction.

4. How easily was your supervisor approachable to help you? How much was your
supervisor willing to help you whenever you got stuck and sought for help?
He was easily approachable whenever I needed help. He would try to help me out in cases
where I found difficulty in understanding something.

5. How satisfied were you with the help and guidance that was offered by your supervisor?
Did you expect some more inputs?
I am very much satisfied with my supervisor. He imparted useful knowledge and also
arranged meetings with experts in the field, so we got that exposure also. He trained us
on how consultancys professional business equipment works. He could have given few
inputs on how to quotes the bids but since it was confidential so we did not get to learn
that part.

6. How much was your supervisor open to your ideas and suggestions?
Yes. So we were preparing the cash flow analysis and as I am good in maths I suggested to
do the cash flow analysis in a better method than the one they were using in the company
so he took the advice and implemented it in the project.

7. How conversant were you with what was required of you?

I was very much conversant because in our IM batch in the 1st year we were taught about
the working of tenders and how to give responses to RFP. In the internship we get to learn
the practical part, we had studied the theory but not the practical implications of it.

8. Do you complete all your assigned tasks within the set deadline?
Yes, I did all my works within the set deadline. They were very much impressed also about
my work.

9. Was the internship a beneficial learning experience?

Yeah it was a learning experience, in terms of knowledge as well as practical experience. I
got to learn many things from it.

10. Would you like to work with a similar type of organisation in future? If Yes/No, Why?
Yeah I am very much into working with the organisation where I Interned. Because
consultancy is a niche are where we can work and we can apply the knowledge we have
learned in the academics, so thats the reason I want to go for t.

11. On what aspects was your experience of working in a Government organisation different
from a Private organisation? What were associated challenges/opportunities?
As I didnt work in any Government organisation I cant say about it but we got the
experience of Government organization when we went for permission to Archaeological
Department of India in New Delhi. There the work happens very slowly, there are many
stages to cross to proceed, so that was a bit of a hassle in a Government organization.
12. Would you like to give any suggestions to enhance the internship experience?
Regarding the enhancement of the Internship experience, you need to be well versed with
what you are doing and in academics part you need to know how things work in practical
business. Try to gain as much knowledge as you can. Thats the best way I would say.
