1. Observe and record:

a. Ive noticed that all teachers have the same responsibility when it comes to passing

periods. They are expected to kind of stand near the door to make sure that each

student is going to class. The administration are the ones who patrol the hallways and

catch any wondering students. This goes for before and after school as well.

b. Students during the lunch are expected to be in the cafeteria or heading towards the

office and/or a teachers classroom. The administration doesnt really want students

to be wondering the hallway especially since some classes are in session.

Administration doesnt mind students in the hallway in the morning. Students are

obviously expected to be quiet in the library and or computer lab. Thats something

that is obvious and self-explanatory. There isnt necessarily a procedure that needs to

be followed but just common curtesy.

2. At Clark there is a total of eight counselors, two for each grade and they are based on the

students last name. Students have the same counselor all four years of high school. Ms.

Merritt (A-L) and Ms. Anderson (M-Z) are the counselors for the ninth grade students.

Ms. Cineza (A-L) and Dr. Paul (M-Z) are the counselors for the tenth grade students. Mr.

Cyr (A-Z) and Ms. Lim (M-Z) are the counselors for the eleventh grade students. Ms.

Arager (A-Z) and Ms. Rich (M-Z) are the counselors for the twelfth grade students. Their

offices are located in the main office. Mr. Chun, Ms. Pedley, Mr. Marinucci are the

special education teachers. Their classrooms are scattered around the campus. Mr. Dincel
is the teacher who helps the English Language Learners (ELL), his classroom is located

in the two hundred hallway.

3. Familiarize yourself with the School District Handbook

a. If a parent/guardian would like to pick up their child early from school, they would

have to go to the attendance office and inform one of the secretaries. After this person

is notified, they will send a student aid to the classroom of which the student is in and

bring him or her down to the office. The parent has to then fill out the information on

the sign out sheet located at the same office and they are all good to go.

b. During a fire drill, students are expected to leave all personal belongings in the

classroom. Each set of classrooms have a designated area to meet at. For example, if

the students are in the four hundred hallway, they are expected to meet somewhere

near the football field. The teacher is the last to leave the room and they have to carry

a sign with their name on it. This allows all the students from his or her class to find

her easier. If students are in the hallways during the fire drill, they are expected to just

follow a class toward their designated area and then return to the classroom as soon as

the fire drill is over.

c. Depending on the severity of the shelter in place, teachers have to secure their door

and place a piece of the tape that comes with the instructions. Students are not

allowed to leave the classroom. If its a soft lockdown, the teacher came continue to

teach. If its a hard lockdown, the lights must be turned off and the students have to

move to a corner of the room. No one is allowed to leave the room and they arent

allowed to talk.
d. Teachers have limited first aid kit essentials; they have the basics such as band aides.

If there is a student in the classroom who has a more serious injury that cant be

solved with such, the teacher would then write them a pass to the nurses office.

e. Teachers are required to take attendance at the beginning of every class to make sure

that everything is accurate. If changes need to be made, the teacher must go to the

attendance office to do so.

4. Schools are considered a part of the community.

a. Clark has many different clubs that do various things around school. For example,

there is a club called K.E.E.N. (Keeping Everyones Eyes On Our Neighborhood),

which focuses on community service. Then you have clubs like Student Council and

Key Club. What I really love about Clark is that all clubs do some form of

community service during the year.

b. Applebees is a big part of our TEACH Program, every year, they will allow this

program to do a fundraiser for any current activities that they want to do. Some of the

proceeds go towards Pre-Kamp, which invites children in the neighborhood who are

not in school yet to come and participate in different lessons plans that the senior

TEACH class creates. Project 150 is a huge supporter at Clark. The founders of this

non-profit are Clark Alumni. They saw that students in many schools are going

without the basic necessities and they wanted to help. The Charger Closet is where

students can get food, clothing, basic essentials and school supplies. Project 150

supplies a majority of what is in that closet, they donate once a week to the school.

They help many schools but Clark is one of the major schools they help.
c. I noticed that a lot of members of K.E.E.N. invite their parents to help out at events.

A lot of the officers in the club get picked up by their parents after school, so they

love to come in and help organize the Charger Closet and even donate. Donated items

such as food and clothing go a long way but some parents even donate to the Charger

Closet account. This helps pay students fees, student cords, etc.
