Research tools

At the Institute of Biotechnology of the UNAM research about the location,

structure and function of several plant genes they are made. First transgenic
plants are frequently used as an experimental tool to study more directly the
action of certain genes. Among others, those that affect the ability of association
with others, tolerance to drought, root development, synthesis of pigments and
responses to the damage to the plant. Species after easy transformation and
regeneration as snuff, or legume Lotus, a seedling of the cruciferous family called
Arabidopsis thaliana are used.

After these plants should be grown under controlled conditions, that is, growth
chambers where predetermine temperature, the amount of light and the duration
of lighting-dark cycle. Other plants such as beans or corn, because of their size, are
grown in greenhouses, where they are subject to more similar changes that would
in the field. Additionally, this allows many of them develop in isolation until they
produce flowers and seeds.

It also seeks to identify and "tag" other genes with effects on metabolism,
development and interaction with the environment by using techniques of
"genome scan" (genome scanning); finally this work can contribute to better
understand and preserve our biodiversity and generate different varieties of crops
adapted to our resources and needs.

Why not do a typical gym routine for the sport?

In the last article I spoke about why not train with machines to improve in sport and
other free weight. Also in this I speak on why do not your typical routines designed in
the gym.

The main problem as trainer of basketball and other sports is that I meet athletes who
follow conventional fitness routines. Then it is usually because at the time went to a
sports center or gym in order to improve in their sport, and the hall monitor, which
usually do not have the knowledge necessary to do so, we applied a conventional
routine continues as any user for aesthetic purposes.
These routines to which I refer are where isolation 2 muscle groups are trained daily,
performing 3-4 sets of 3-4 exercises for each muscle group. Possible combinations
may be the example of 3 sessions a week with:

First session: bicep / breast,

Second session: trcpes / back
Third session: shoulder / leg.

And with too much muscle damage routines weider is created, because we are always
emphasizing the same muscle, recovery is slow, and can adversely affect your
performance in the game. It makes no sense to exhaust a muscle completely one day,
to have it sold out all week and did not return to work until past 7 days. Additionally, if
you are a player or a coach who wants to improve the physical capabilities to a sport
do not use conventional routines of bodybuilders, they work two muscle groups a day,
and you use only joint exercises. Start using multi-joint exercises and functional
changes at different levels and situations that approach the sporting reality.
