Other more normal factors that may
cause forgetfulness include distrac-
tions, preoccupation, multi-tasking,

due to aging. It does not affect our
social or intellectual functioning.
Memory loss that disrupts every-
day life is not part of the normal
aging process. It is a symptom of
dementia, a gradual and progres-
sive decline in memory, thinking
and reasoning skills. Early symp-
toms of Alzheimers disease often
include recent memory loss which
may cause difficulty in performing
familiar tasks such as handling the
checkbook or preparing meals, diffi-
culty learning new tasks, loss of a
sense of time and problems with
language.
Before a diagnosis is made,
other conditions must be excluded,
some of which are potentially
reversible. Do not assume that you
or someone you love has
numerous awards for our care,
from our caregivers and our
clients. Most recently, we were
awarded the Provider of Choice for
2015.
We are very selective on who we
hire, the applicants are screened
diligently and we test them to
make sure that they have the
skills that they need to perform
the services requested by our
clients. All of our CHHAs are
licensed by the state of New
Jersey. We offer continuing educa-
tion, we specialize in training our
caregivers on how to work with the
dementia/Alzheimer clients, test
their competency skills annually
and rerun their background
checks each year. All of our care-
givers are our employees, and
they are covered by
Alzheimers disease. Instead, pur-
sue a thorough evaluation, involving
physical, neurological, psychologi-
cal and psychiatric examinations
and laboratory studies which
should yield a fairly accurate diagno-
sis.
