A sophomore criminal justice major and lacrosse player at Kean, recently helped rescue a young
girl who was caught in a riptide at Chadwick Beach, N.J. Matthew Schwartz, a certified lifeguard
from Point Pleasant was on a training run with two other guys.

We noticed someone waving from pretty far out in the water and, within a split second, faintly
heard them say, Help!, Schwartz said. The waves carried the 10-year-old girl out too far. She
was struggling to stay afloat and could not swim back to shore.

As a coach and parent of a soon-to-be 10-year-old girl, I could only imagine how her family
must have felt when Matt and his fellow lifeguards saved their daughter, said Shelley Sheiner,
head men's lacrosse coach at Kean. Matt is a really humble young man and I couldn't be
prouder of him.

In addition,Schwartz does not consider himself a hero. Schwartz said he was only doing what he
has been trained to do which is to help people in situations like these.

In National News

The son of a former Fox News personality, Eric Chase Bolling died last month after he ingested a
cocktail of drugs that included Xanax, fentanyl and cocaine, this was according to a coroners
report that was released on Thursday by the authorities of Colorado.

According to the coroners office in Boulder County, Bolling who was 19 years old died of
mixed drug intoxication. He was a student at the University of Colorado. He graduated from
Northern Valley Regional High School, in addition, Bolling was part of the Sigma Pi Zeta-Delta
and he helped raise funds for charities.

The Guatemalas highest court has abolished the death penalty for civil cases. This decision will
enter in effect once it is published in the governments official gazette.

Guatemalan law has allowed death penalty in cases of murders of people younger than 12 and
older than 60 to crimes that are related to drug trafficking, assassination of the president or vice-
president and kidnapping if the victim dies or is severely hurt.

"We cannot allow us to be one of the last countries that apply that penalty. We believe it is
necessary for the respect of human rights in Guatemala," said Jose Alejandro Valverth Flores,
one of the lawyers who had petitioned the Constitutional Court to declare unconstitutional the
pertinent articles of the penal code and a law governing drug crimes.

According to the rights group Amnesty International, Guatemala is one of six places in the
Americas that still have the death penalty, along with the United States including Puerto Rico,
Cuba, Guyana and Jamaica.

The New York Governor Andrew Cuomo returned from his second trip to Puerto Rico to bring
more supplies and personnel to assist the hurricane ravaged U.S. territory.

In this second visit governor Cuomo noted that Puerto Rico will need years of assistance and
billions of dollars of funding.

In addition, Cuomo mentioned that the federal governments response as slow, however, he
mentioned that New York will help the island as long as it needed. So far, New York has sent
supplies and members of the New York National Guard and even state police.

Tamar Braxton files for divorce. A source said that the 40-year-old singer wants to divorce from
her husband, Vincent Herbert. According to this source there has been trouble with the two of
them for some time and it came to a head.

Braxton and Herbert has been together for more than ten years. And, they even have a 4 year-old
son, named Logan.

On September, the Love and War singer shared with the ET that she would save her marriage
by walking away from her recording career. There is a lot of things that are going on in my
relationship and me being close to this music industry, and whatever I can do to eliminate all of
the stress and problems off of my relationship, I would rather do that, said Braxton.

As we know Herbert is not only her husband, the father of her son, but he is also her manager.
