The government has extended incentives on electric vehicles under FAME-1 (Faster
Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicle) till March 2018 or till a policy is
notified by NITI Aayog, whichever is earlier. Governments in states such as
Karnataka and Telangana are also drawing up policies to promote green mobility.

The government has a vision to convert majority of the new vehicle fleet in the
country to an all-electric mode by 2030 to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and
emissions.
The NITI Aayog is working with ministries of road transport and highways, power,
new and renewable energy, heavy industries, and petroleum and natural gas to put in
place a comprehensive policy to attain this objective.
