expont CONTROLLED SERVICE ; BULLETIN Rolls-Royce ENGINE FUEL AND CONTROL —- CLEARANCE INSPECTION BETWEEN THE FUEL MANIFOLD AND THE AFT-SUMP FORWARD PRESSURE OIL TUBE 1. PLANNING INFORMATION A. Effectivity (1). Engines All AE 3007A, AE 3007A1/1, AESOO7A1/3, AE 3007A1, AE SOO7AIP, AE SOO7AS engines. All AE 3007C and AE 3007C1 engines. (2) Spares —Not affected B. Reason Reports from the field show that the aft-sump forward pressure oil tube assembly (23060125) can contact the fuel manifold assembly (23062361 or 23056475) near the No. 8 fuel nozzle and cause chafing damage to one or both of these parts. In several cases, these chafing damages have resulted in cil leakage. No fuel leaks have been reported from these events. To make sure no further chafing damage can occur between the {uel manifold and the oil tube, a minimum clearance of 0.100 in. (2.54 mm) is recommended, ©. Description ‘This service bulletin gives you the procedure to do an on-wing inspection for clearance between the fuel manifold (23062361 or 23056475) and the oil tube (23060125). This service bulletin also defines the procedures to adjust the fuel manifold (23062361 or 23056475) and the oll tube (23060125) if adequate clearance is not shown and to replace the parts if chafing damage is found. D. Approval Technical aspects are FAA approved. E. Manpower In Service Approximately 1.5 man-hour is necessary o do this service bulletin, Engine Removed Not applicable. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS (CAUTION: IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE POTENTIAL FOR MULTIPLE-ENGINE IN-FLIGHT SHUTDOWN, POWER LOSS, OR OTHER ANOMALY DUE TO MAINTENANCE ERROR, ROLLS-ROYCE RECOMMENDS THAT OPERATORS AVOID PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON MULTIPLE ENGINES INSTALLED ON THE SAME AIRCRAFT AT THE SAME TIME. IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO AVOID MAINTENANCE ON MORE THAN ONE ENGINE AT THE SAME TIME, ROLLS-ROYCE RECOMMENDS THAT ADDITIONAL CONTROLS ARE APPLIED IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT MAINTENANCE TASKS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AS. DEFINED. MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES SHOULD BE REVISED, WHERE POSSIBLE, TO PROMOTE THIS RECOMMENDATION. A. Got access to the fuel manifold and the aft-sump forward pressure oll tube. 0) Remove the aft lower right hand access cover for the outer bypass duct (Ref. 72-73-10, MM). B. Inspect the clearance between the fuel manifold and the aft-sump forward pressure oil tube. REF. FIG.1 0) (2) 8) Use a 0.100 in. (2.54 mm) feeler gage to check the clearance between the fuel manifold and the oil tube. It the clearance is 0.100 in, (2.54 mm) or greater, then no additional action is required. Go to step 2F. It the clearance is less than 0.100 in. (2.84 mm), then do the steps that follow: (a) Examine the fuel manifold and the oil tube for indications of chafing. NOTE: Chafing is defined as frictional wear damage caused by two parts rubbing together with limited motion, (0) Ifyou do not see indications of chafing, go to step 2.C. to adjust the ol tube. (c) Ifyou 500 indications of chafing on the fue! manifold, go to step 2.D. to replace the part. (a) Ifyou see indications of chafing on the oll tube, go to step 2.E. to replace the part.
