5. Course Description:
This is an advanced course designed to give students knowledge and practices on writing all
forms such as Composition Basics, Business Writing, Proposals and Reports, Visual Design Basics,
Business Letters in English, Business Letters Formats, Planning a Business Letter, Letter
Requesting Information, Letter Sending Information, Price Change Notice, Letters of Invitation,
Enquiry Letter, Offer, Reply to an Offer, Order and its Confirmation, Complaint, Reply to
Complaint, Resumes, CVs and Cover Letters. All of these business writings will benefit students
upon their graduate for they will be able to use them in communicating in their workplaces or their
lives.
6. Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
- identify how to use the basic grammar for an effective writing
- define steps to successful business writing
- produce clear, concise, coherent communication
- write administrative letters used in various institutions
- communicate more successfully by using formal forms of writings.

7. Expected Learning Outcomes:


After learning this course, students are expected to:
- identify the different uses of grammars for business writing
- know the composition basics for writing
- differentiate the kinds of samples for business letters
- know the sample of proposals and reports
- use these kinds of business letters with their workplace and their own lives

11. Methods of Teaching:

- Lecture and practices


- Process-based approach. Students are involved in the pre-writing, the while-writing, and
the post-writing stages.
- Genre-based approach. Students explore different types of texts.
- Conferencing and written feedback. Both oral and written feedback is given on student
writing for substantive revision.
