This letter transmits Revision 1 to the subject service bulletin. Replace the original
issue with this Revision 1.

This is a complete revision.

Revision 1 changes the Manpower, Compliance and Material Availability sections.

If you have complied with the previous issue of this bulletin, no additional work is
required.

ENGINE NEW RADIAL DRIVE QUILL SHAFT (23077207)

1. PLANNING INFORMATION

A. Effectivity
(1) Engines
All AE 3007A, AE 3007A1/1, AE3007A1/3, AE 3007A1, AE 3007A1E, AE 3007A1P, and
AE 3007A3 engines
All AE 3007C and AE 3007C1 engines.
NOTE: The engine serial numbers that are affected by this service bulletin have not been
established. This service bulletin will be revised when engine production records
for this modification are recorded, and engine serial number effectivity for in
service engines are established.
(2) Spares Not affected

B. Reason
This service bulletin releases a new radial drive quill shaft (P/N 23077207) to the AE 3007A
series and AE 3007C series engines. The changes from the preceding part numbers, P/N
23056789 and 23076810, include the addition of a center balance collar, new balance
procedure, tighter balance requirements, and thicker walls. All the changes are intended to
improve the dynamic response of the shaft and reduce the likelihood of the radial drive system
causing an operational event.

C. Description
This service bulletin gives you the procedure to remove the radial drive quill shaft (23056789 or
23076810) and install the new radial drive quill shaft (23077207).

D. Approval
Technical aspects are FAA approved.

E. Manpower
In Service Approximately 8.0 manhours are necessary to do this service bulletin.
Engine Removed Approximately 3.0 manhours are necessary to do this service bulletin.
Required labor will be reimbursed by Rolls-Royce when accomplished for eligible engines under
the stated effectivity and compliance and performed at a Rolls-Royce authorized maintenance
facility.

F. Compliance
Recommended. After the parts are available, you should do this bulletin at the next shop visit or
at the next convenient maintenance opportunity.

2. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS
CAUTION: IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE POTENTIAL FOR MULTIPLEENGINE INFLIGHT
SHUTDOWN, POWER LOSS, OR OTHER ANOMALY DUE TO MAINTENANCE
ERROR, ROLLSROYCE RECOMMENDS THAT OPERATORS AVOID
PERFORMING MAINTENANCE ON MULTIPLE ENGINES INSTALLED ON THE
SAME AIRCRAFT AT THE SAME TIME. IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO AVOID
MAINTENANCE ON MORE THAN ONE ENGINE AT THE SAME TIME,
ROLLSROYCE RECOMMENDS THAT ADDITIONAL CONTROLS ARE APPLIED IN
ORDER TO ENSURE THAT MAINTENANCE TASKS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED AS
DEFINED. MAINTENANCE GUIDELINES SHOULD BE REVISED, WHERE
POSSIBLE, TO PROMOTE THIS RECOMMENDATION.
A. Remove the accessory gearbox and quill shaft (Ref. 726310, MM).
B. Examine the removed radial quill shaft (Ref. 726310, MM).
NOTE: If any inspection findings on the radial quill shaft bearing journal (Diameter A in the
MM illustration) cause the radial quill shaft to be rejected, replace the midspan roller
bearing (Ref. 722535, MM).
C. Install new radial quill shaft (23077207) and the accessory gearbox (Ref. 726310400801,
MM).
D. Return the removed parts with the attached Parts Return Report to the following address:
