Newspapers hold a very important place in the life of man today.

They play an important part both in the national and the international arena. They give us news and

views.

If man wants food for his belly, he also needs news for his mind to keep pace with the world.

The latter he gets from newspapers.

They refresh his knowledge and ideas.

He learns about the international events from the newspapers which have their own educative value.

These newspapers educate the common people.

They broaden our outlook and change views.

This is why Mr. Nixon, Ex-President of America once remarked, 'four hostile newspapers are more to

be feared than a thousand bayonets'.

They shape the opinion of the common people of

a country by influencing the public opinion.


The newspapers have a very important position and place in a democratic country.

They are the critics of administration, justice and law.

They play the part of social reformers.

They remove the barriers separating man from man.

They are the advocates of liberty, equality and fraternity.

They enforce the right and redress the wrong.

Indeed they are the custodians of public interest.

Those who seek jobs find the advertisements very

useful.

They are useful to the economists to be in touch

with up-to-date knowledge of economy. The

politicians find them very useful.

They inform them of the events taking place in the whole world. And also they serve them as a good

means of propaganda.

All these advantages confirm the fact that the power of the press is really very great.

Indeed mightiest of the mighty is the pen.

Newspapers are today's world's encyclopedias.

If you found my mistake or have any suggestion ,don't hesitate to say it .

Before printing press was invented ,Mad hard obtained news , imformation and knowledge. Many

people got news and knowledge form gossip or tale . Until Gutenberg had

invented printing press , The world was changed Many knowledge began to
spread form west to east and form north to south and the first public newspapers was published in

this time .The newspaper was became channel for public opinion.The world was change again when

wave had discovered and led to invent radio. The ways to get news had other way than sound and

voice when television and film came. Despite people have many way to get news ,Although people

have other to get information, the newspaper still important until today that may be cause by many

factor that can divided into countless factor. But I will classified important factor by two type,

according form viewpoint: Form consumer view and commercial viewpoint.

Form consumer viewpoints have three factor;

cheapness , convenient for read and variety

.First ,cheapness is most important factor .In

many country ,people can buy newspaper by two

or three cent and don’t play other cost .Second


factor is convenient , other mass media especially

electronic mass media that want many thing to

support ,for example ,television want electric ,

internet want service cost .On the contrary , you

want light only for read it. Finally factor is variety.

Many people want all in one mass media ,for

example ,have feature ,cartoon , article and news

in one and the newspaper can be.

Form commercial viewpoints that is divided in to three

viewpoints : Form advertiser viewpoint, form public

relation views point. However, They have same reason

for send massage to public. In additional, the newspaper

is chosen for many people read it and had cheaper price

for advertising than other mass media.

As a future teacher, I see that newspapers are very important to the education of our students. It
has become a necessity for the common citizen to be educated on global events. By encouraging

students to read the newspaper, it not only endorses life long learning, but it also promotes unity

throughout the globe. When people are aware of what is going on around the world, they are more

likely to interact between countries. The world of technology that is blossoming before our eyes

makes global interaction a reality. Newspapers that are on actual paper are becoming objects of our

past. It is now very common to have the full published version of a newspaper on the World Wide

Web. This makes accessing newspapers very simple. The online version of the papers is not only

easier to access, but they also contain more information than the hard copies.

The online versions of the newspapers contain links that give you more information on any given

topic. As a teacher there are many resources that could be very useful. There are lesson plans that

have to do with any topic that a teacher would like to teach. In these lesson plans there is a great

amount of interaction between the student and the web. In a lesson plan that I looked at on voting

in the New York Times, there is a way that students can have a mock vote, and see the results via

the web. This teaches students such a huge amount of skills in just one lesson. It teaches them to

be more comfortable using computers as well as something about voting. There are so many other

ways that newspapers can help students become more successful in the world of today. Children,

who know more about current events, often find it easier to talk to adults because they have more

subjects to talk about. I am speaking from experience because when I am more aware of what is

going on, I find it much easier to strike up a conversation with people. By teaching our students

conversation skills, it will show them how to network; making them more successful

When I was in elementary school, I was often assigned to report on a current event on a weekly

basis. I was never too thrilled about doing this because it was not very interesting to me. By having

student interact with the web, I think it would make it more interesting. I think students would

realize that current events do effect them and they need to be aware of them. They should be aware

of global issues such as destruction of rain forests and pollution. They can see that they can make a

difference in the world. This is very important because it not only builds self esteem, but it also helps

the earth be a better place.

I look forward to assigning my students to read the newspapers. I think that I will use them on a

daily basis to show how much information they contain. I will show the students how to use the

newspaper to find jobs as well as to find out about current events. I will show them about the way

they can find out about local entertainment attractions and how they can look up the weather
forecast. I will try to make sure that all of my lesson plans are full of action so students will be

attracted to the newspaper, rather than dread reading it. I hope to be able to show my students that

the newspaper is a well of knowledge that can be a useful life long tool.

When I was in school my teachers used to advise me that I should read newspapers to improve my

vocabulary and English.

I did and you can see that I could right in English quite well though I am still trying to improve to

the level of a novel writer.

I did and I developed an advance level of sense to stay aware of the world affairs and happenings.

I did and I developed strong aptitude and tastes for

knowing and keeping me informed about arts,

writing, literature, movies, music, society,

fashion, youth, cultures, economy, politics,

religions, current affairs, hobbies, automobiles,

celebrities etc.

Newspapers are such an essential part of growing up.

But sadly there are so many newspapers began to be published in regional languages that had

become a regular feature of every household mornings.


They don't have any thing to offer in terms of a students mental and attitudinal improvements.

It is necessary that one should read a good quality newspaper on a regular basis.

What does the Border Morning Mail in Australia have in common with The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Mail,
the Washington Post, El Pais and The Times of India?

All will be making presentations at the World Newspaper Congress and World Editors Forum in Istanbul, Turkey, early
next month. And while participants are anticipating the strategic advice to be shared by the large, well-known
newspapers, the Border Morning Mail proves that big strategies come from small markets too.

"Every market is different and although there are common goals amongst newspaper publishers, generally based
around increasing circulation and advertising revenue and reducing production cost, strategies have to respond to
specific local conditions," says Tony Whiting, the CEO of the daily, which has grown circulation and profit for five
straight years.

Presentations at the Congress, Forum and Info Services Expo 2004, to be held from 30 May to 2 June, will cover the
full range of newspaper issues, both big and small, from many cultures and every continent, from press freedom to
business development. More than 1,000 publishers, senior managers, chief editors, other executives and their guests
are expected at the events, the global meetings of the world’s press. There is still time to register; the full programme,

Mr Whiting says that Australia is "one of the most oversupplied media markets in the world." Competition is fierce, and
the Morning Mail -- winner of the Pacific area’s newspaper of the year award in the 20,000-50,000 sales category --
must compete with two national dailies, four state dailies, five television channels, one satellite service and five radio
stations.

"Unlike many other regional newspapers, our major publishing objective is to provide a full cover of daily news, from
international, national, business and of course local news. We aim to have readers only buy The Border Mail for their
daily hit of news," says Mr Whiting.

Here are highlights of some of the other presentations:

  Karen House, Senior Vice President of Dow Jones & Co. Inc. and Global Publisher of The Wall Street Journal, will
examine the current definition of "news" and how this has changed in the face of rapid, transformational global
economic change. There are now, she says, 63,000 multinational companies against only 7,000 in 1970, an evolution
that has altered news definitions and created new reader needs. At the same time, Ms House will give her views on
how subscriptions and advertising should be priced to reflect the value offered by newspapers.
  The Daily Mail and General Trust is one of the world’s largest media companies, with national and regional
newspaper titles and trade publications, together with broadcast interests, new media and events organization in 30
countries. The company has enjoyed extraordinary growth in recent years, both through aggressive diversification and
the rise of its national newspapers, in particular. Every day, DMGT titles are read by half the United Kingdom’s adult
population. Lord Rothermere, the young Chairman of the group, will tell the Congress why newspapers can continue
to grow, provided they are focused, well-managed and well-funded.

  The Times of India Group is India’s largest media conglomerate. Its flagship newspaper, The English-language
Times of India, sells 2.4 million copies daily. Pradeep Guha, President of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, publishers of
The Times of India. will explain the group’s strategy and how its approach has relevance in both developed and
developing markets. "To remain undisputed market leaders, the strategies we have employed have been innovative,
decisive, and efficient, but yes, often crippling for our competitors," says Mr Guha. "The belief that ’playing hardball’ is
the only way to stay on top, is built into our corporate DNA."

  Brendan Hopkins, Chief Executive Officer of APN News & Media Ltd, Australasia’s largest regional newspaper,
radio and outdoor advertising group, says that newspapers are the most exciting sector of the global media market
and he pinpoints product and promotional innovations and editorial content as the areas most worthy of current
attention. "Increasingly it is product and promotional innovation where we must invest more to attract our time-starved
audiences, " he believes. "How many newspapers are investing more than 10 % of revenues on their product and
promotion? Consumer products spend as much as 25 % of net revenues!"

  The Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ) group is the second-largest publisher of newspapers in Germany
and one of Europe’s biggest regional press groups. It has interests in newspapers and magazines in seven countries
and in total around 500 titles. The group is also well established in radio, television and on the web. Lutz Glandt,
Managing Director of the WAZ Media Group, will explain, through case studies, the optimization, expansion and
diversification strategies of his company.

Some other speakers include: Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Prime Minister of Turkey, Donald Graham, Chairman & CEO
of the Washington Post, Juan Luis Cebrián, CEO, El País & PRISA Group, Spain, Anssi Vanjoki, Executive Vice
President & General Manager, Multimedia, Nokia Corporation, Ivan Fallon, CEO, Independent News & Media, United
Kingdom, Edwy Plenel, Editor-in-Chief, Le Monde in France and many more.

Last minute additions: Salah Negm, Editor-in-Chief of the pan-Arab television network Al-Arabiya, who will participate
in a Forum session on the rise of Arab media, and Saad Albazzaz, Editor in Chief of the Azzaman Daily Newspaper in
Iraq, who has joined a special seminar on press freedom in the Arab world.

As in past years, The Congress and Forum offer spectacular social events, which this year will include a welcome
reception at the Istanbul Archaeological Museum, a gala dinner and entertainment on Sultanahmet Square, a street
party in old Istanbul, dance performances and photo exhibitions, and much more.
