The teacher shows the letter i and asks if anyone recognizes this letter then explains to the students
that this is the letter Ai and asks Can everyone say Ai? then continues; But what do you think
the sounds of the letter Ai is? The teacher asks the students to repeat the sound of the letter Ai
by saying The sound while motioning to the ears what sound means for students to understand.
The sound of the letter is /i/ can you all say /i/?
The teacher asks the students what may start with the sound /i/ after the students take a few guessed
and discuss, they are then reminded that its time for the song of sounds, the teacher then plays the
song whilst singing along whilst doing with movements. The teacher repeats the sound of the letter
Ai, i i i, and hears the students repeat it multiple times to ensure they have it right. Followed by
the part of the letter in the song of sounds insects are interesting i i i. The teacher tells the students

that she will show them a few pictures of words that start with the sound i on a PowerPoint
slideshow and if they can guess any of those pictures, and then tell them after theyve guessed.
Whole
Low: The students use dotted stickers to fill the circles into making an igloo. The teacher also asks
the students questions to keep them engaged and has them sound out the /i/ in igloo.
Medium: The students will be colouring the sound /i/ and colouring an ice cream, the teacher will
also ask them what flavour their ice cream is and what sound of ice cream is /i/. The students colour
the /i/ and their own unique ice creams, they also answer their teacher and engage in a discussion
with peers.
High: the students practice writing the sound /i/ in simple words such as insect, inside, igloo, and
iguana. The students trace the letters and practice the sounds and colour the igloo.
The teacher will ask the students if they enjoyed the activities, and what they liked. The teacher
will then draw the letter /i/ and ask the students what letter this is, and what sound does the letter i

make. The students will answer and the teacher will ask them to give a few words with the sound
/i/, then ask them to draw the letter /i/ in the air. The teacher will briefly go over the lesson and ask

Assessment
I will assess the students by asking them questions throughout their activities, such as what are you doing?,
what is the sound of the letter youre writing, and what is the name of this object?.
