COURSE PREREQUISITE: MATH 37 COURSE DESCRIPTION: Infinite series, techniques and applications of partial differentiation and multiple integration. COURSE OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the course, the student must be able to: 1. determine convergence or divergence of infinite series using appropriate tests; 2. find the interval of convergence of a power series; 3. find the power series representation of functions; 4. determine limits and continuity of a function at a point and over a set; 5. find partial derivatives ( explicit, implicit, chain rule, higher order ); 6. find directional derivatives ( if they exist ); 7. find equations of tangent plane and normal line to a surface; 8. find extreme values of functions ( constrained or unconstrained case ); and 9. evaluate multiple integrals using rectangular, polar, cylindrical and spherical coordinates
