Lesson idea implementation:

The Beyond the Basics Productivity tool used in this lesson is Timeline. Students will learn how to
use this tool in class. I will start by telling the students that Timeline is a software that allows you to
put years and dates in order, making personal connections, and create cause/effect diagrams. I will
also let students know that they will be creating a timeline of events so they can visualize the history.
I will do a tutorial on Timeline to show students how to use this tool and they will be able to practice
using it during the activity.

For this lesson students will be reading short stories on Martin Luther King Jr. They will be able to
access BrainPOP videos on Martin Luther King Jr. life as well. After students read the stories and
watch the videos they will then use the class set of computers to create a timeline for Martin Luther
King Jr.s life. Students will be able to use BrainPOP and other resources to gain more knowledge
with the approval of the teacher. After students have made their timelines they will be able to share

slides as well.
