TCS CSR -
TCS approach to CSR is driven by our strategy to create Impact through Empowerment in the areas of
health, education, and environment. We serve local communities through programs, partnerships, and
initiatives that address large-scale societal problems. Heres how TCS is making an impact:
NORTH Health To help address the issue of heart disease and encourage a healthy lifestyle, TCS has partnered with
AMERICA
the American Heart Association (AHA) as a National Corporate Team Walk Partner and a National Wear Red
Day Partner. Now in its fifth year, this deep-rooted partnership gives TCS associates the unique opportunity
to participate in American Heart Start! Walks nationwide, learn about heart disease, hear from survivors, build
awareness on how to reduce the risk of heart disease and raise funds for research and treatment.
More than 14,000 TCSers have participated in over 270 AHA events to support the cause, impacting over
35,000 lives in just five years. In FY17, more than 1,900 TCSers participated in 34 AHA Heart Walk events
across the country, fundraising more than $17,000 towards AHAs mission of building healthier lives, free of
cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
Environment TCS is committed to preserving the planet through conservation, disaster relief and
volunteerism through its national and local non-profit partners. In times of regional or national natural
disasters, TCS supports large-scale relief efforts. We partner with the American Red Cross and the Canadian
Red Cross to enable our employees to come together to support rescue, recovery and rehabilitation
services. Over the years, TCS employees have made significant contributions to these organizations -
matched at 100 percent by TCS, providing critical aid and recovery to devastated communities. Our efforts
have resulted in an increased awareness of environmental issues, adoption of green initiatives at the
workplace and financial contributions at national and local levels.
Education TCS leverages three types of capital to advance STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Math) education: intellectual, technological and human. It tackles various challenges, such as the bridging
of physical distance, diverse perspectives and differing goals of several organizations and partners.
Utilizing Intellectual Capital We work across all sectors to develop innovative initiatives to fuel
student interest in STEM education and careers. In the past year, we developed and co-hosted, with the
STEMconnector organization, our fourth national Computer Science Executive Roundtable. The gathering
connected executives, government officials, tech experts, and thought leaders with high school students
to explore strategies to advance digital fluency. This roundtable spawned the co-publication, with
STEMconnector, of our fourth white paper: Building Digital Fluency Inside and Outside the Classroom:
Computer Science Education in the U.S.
Technological Capital We donate our IT expertise to lead the development of a mentoring platform
for US2020, a national initiative developed by a White House directive to generate innovative solutions to
STEM education challenges.
We also build and maintain the technology platform for Million Women Mentors (MWM), a national
mentoring initiative which aims to engage a million industry professionals to inspire girls and women
to pursue STEM education and careers. This tech platform captures the pledges, provides mentoring
opportunity maps by zip code, connects mentors to organizations serving mentees, and tracks progress.
Human Capital As a global IT services leader, TCS North America recognizes that our companys future
and the nationsdepends upon more people with STEM skills entering the workforce each year. We are
leading the change through several cross-sector efforts along with partners, customers and industry peers
to inspire children, many from ethnic minorities, marginalized groups and low income families, toward
STEM education and careers. TCS harnesses the core competencies of its IT workforce by supporting three
major STEM Initiatives - the TCS flagship goIT program, STEM Career Accelerator, and the global Computer
Science Education Week.
goIT goIT is TCS signature community engagement program in North America that increases interest in
STEM and Computer Science through design thinking, mobile app development, and mentorship from TCS
employee volunteers. Primarily focused toward middle school students underrepresented in computing
fields, goIT offers a free and flexible program for schools, non-profits, and other youth-serving institutions
to help students engage actively in computational thinking by using a student-driven exploration of
community-centered issues. Students work in teams to identify a problem, generate possible solutions,
wireframe their prototypes, develop and test their mobile apps, and present their work to peers and judges.
In turn, goIT participants are introduced to design thinking as a problem-solving framework, acquire critical
thinking experience while troubleshooting designs, improve their ability to work in teams, and refine their
communication skills through public presentations. Each TCS volunteer completes extensive training,
covering youth psychology, design thinking, educational systems, and tools for mobile app development
to aid their preparation as a mentor.

Million Women Mentor TCS is a founding member of MWM, a movement that aims to change the face
of women and girls, their career choices and advancement. TCS provides pro-bono services to develop
the MWM technology platform to capture all pledges, provide mentoring opportunity maps by zip code,
connect mentors to organizations serving mentees, and track progress. We also recently created a new,
mobile-friendly MWM web portal with features such as logging the progress of working with mentees and
sharing resources among communities of mentors, companies and girl-serving organizations.
On December 1, 2016 MWM exceeded its original goal of one million mentors, and currently has more
than 1.8 million pledges. Over 850,000 mentoring relationships have been established against the pledges,
with TCS at the forefront, enabling more than 55,000 mentoring relationships (from both men and women)
across the globe, more than any other corporate supporter. Additionally, MWM is on track to achieve its
new goal of two million mentoring relationships for girls and women in STEM by 2020.
Ignite my Future in School In 2017 launched Ignite My Future in School in partnership with
Discovery Education, to help prepare more than one million U.S. students for 21st century careers.
This multi-million dollar and first-of-its-kind initiative seeks to help transform the U.S. education
system by embedding computational thinking and problem solving into core school subjects such as
mathematics, English, social studies, and the arts.
Ignite My Future in School will engage 20,000+ teachers to empower them with the digital tools,
instructional resources and in-market support to confidently teach todays youth. The goal is to
ultimately connect with 1+ million students in the next five years and equip them with trans-disciplinary
skills that they can apply to almost any job or industry in the future.
TCS New York City Marathon TCS is proud to be the title sponsor of the TCS New York City Marathon

New Years Eve Midnight Run) and its youth programs (e.g., Youth Jamboree and Mighty Milers).
TCS is the creator of the races official mobile app, available in both the Apple and Google Play stores.
As a result of its innovative features that bolstered the spectator and runner experiences, the app was
ranked as the top free sports app, featured as a best new app in the Apple App Store on Race Day and
