Module 1
Key Terms/Concepts:
Perversion in human life and a historical outlook on Kufr (infidelity),
atheism, polytheism and hypocrisy.
Important Aayah:
And remain steadfast on the religion of Hanifan (Islamic Monotheism),
Allah's Fitrah with which He has created mankind. No change let there be
in Khalq-illah (i.e. the religion of Allah), that is the straight religion.
Soorah Ar-Rum (30): 30
Important Ahadeeth:
If any religious man died amongst those people they would build a place
of worship at his grave and make these pictures in it. They will be the
worst creature in the Sight of Allah (swt) on the Day of Resurrection.

And those who (kafaru) disbelieve turn away from what they have been

Claiming the knowledge of the unseen, palm-reading, cup-reading etc.
Sorcery, Divination and Soothsaying
Important Aayah:
Shall I inform you on whom the devils descend? They descend on every
great liar and sinner. They eavesdrop and most of them are liars. Who
gives ear and most of them are liars. Soorah ash-Shoora (26): 221-223
Important Ahadeeth:
He who consults a diviner or a soothsayer and believes what he says, will
have disbelieved in what was send down to Muhammad (i.e. the
Qur'aan). Narrated by Abu Dawood

Key Terms/Concepts:
Making offerings, vows, gifts, and graves with reverence.
The ruling on revering commemorative statues, monuments and idols.
Ruling on division of faith and disrespecting its inviolable.
Important Aayah:
And there are some people who take for themselves rivals to Allah, love
them as they love Allah. Soorah al-Baqarah (2): 165
Important Ahadeeth:
Lo! Beware those who were before you used to take the graves of their
prophets as places of worship. Beware, never take graves for mosques. I
forbid you doing so. Saheeh Muslim

Ruling by other than what Allah revealed
Claiming the right of Legislation, Legalization and Illegalization
Important Aayah:
And he who does not rule by what Allah sent down, it is they who are the
disbelievers. Soorah Al-Ma'idah' (5):44

He who practices an act of worship that is not endorsed by our deen it is
to be rejected. Saheeh Muslim

Important Aayah:
And when they meet those who believe, they say: We believe, but when
they are alone with their Shayatin, they say: Truly, we are with you; verily,
we were but mocking. Soorah Al-Baqarah (2): 14
Important Ahadeeth:
He who promotes nationalism is not one of us, neither the one who fights
for the sake of nationalism, nor the one who is passionate for
nationalism. Saheeh Muslim

Key Terms/Concepts:
Charms and Amulets
The Ruling of Swearing by other than Allah and seeking means of access to
Allah (Tawassul) through a human.
Important Aayah:
And to Allah alone belong all perfect names. So call on Him by them. And
leave those who deviate from the right way with respect to His attributes.
They shall be requited for what they do. Soorah Al-A'raf (7):180
Important Ahadeeth:
That some of charms and amulets and Tiwalah constitute Shirk. Abu
Dawood, Ahmed, Ibn Majah, al Hakim

The incumbency of loving the Messenger of Allah, and revering him.
Prohibition of praising him excessively. The status and Rank of the
Prophet.
Important Aayah:
Do not exceed the limits of your deen. Soorah An-Nisa' (4):171

Do not adulate me, as the Christians adulated the son of Maryam. I am
only a slave, call me the slave of Allah and His Messenger. Agreed upon

The Merits of the Companions and the Stance of Ahl as Sunnah wal
Jama`ah with regards to what took place among them.
Important Aayah:
And as to him who opposes the Messenger after guidance has become
clear to him, and follows a way other than that of the believers. We shall
let him pursue the way he is pursuing, and shall cast him into Hell; and an
evil destination it is. Soorah An-Nisa' (4):115
Important Ahadeeth:
Do not abuse my Companions. By the One in Whose hand is my life, were
one of you to expend in charity an amount of gold equal to Mount Uhud,
he would not receive the reward for a mudd of food given in charity by
one of them. Saheeh Al- Bukhaaree and Muslim

The definition of Bidah, its kinds and rulings.
Important Aayah:
And that this is My path straight, so follow it; and do not follow other
ways, lest they lead you away from His path. Soorah Al-An'am (6):153

He who introduces any ritual which is not substantiated, it shall be
rejected. Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim

The Stance of the Muslim Ummah in responding to the innovators.
Important Aayah:
Say, 'Will you acquaint Allah with your faith, while Allah knows whatever
is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth, and Allah knows
everything? Soorah Al-Hujuraat (49):16

Do not adulate me as the Christians adulated the son of Maryam, I am
only a human, therefore, call me the slave of Allah and His Messenger.

Introduction to the teachings of Aqeedah
Important Aayah:
So, worship Allah (alone) by performing religious deeds sincerely for His
sake. Surely, the religion is for Allah only. Soorah az-Zumar (39): 2-3

Every child is born upon Fitrah (natural inborn instinct which recognizes
his Lord), but his parents make him a Jew, a Christian or a fire-worshiper.

This is the creation of Allah. So show Me that which those (whom you

Meaning of the word, Ar-Rabb in the Quraan and the Sunnah as opposed
to concepts of the misguided nations and their refutation.

All the praises and thanks be to Allah, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind,
jinn and all that exists). Soorah al-Fatiha (1): 2

I created my slaves upon Hunafa (the correct religion), but the Shayateen
misguided them. Musnad Ahmad and Saheeh Muslim

Meaning of Tawheed al-Uluhiyah and the fact that it was the main object
of the Dawah of all Prophets
Important Aayah:
And verily, We have sent among every Ummah (community, nation) a
Messenger (proclaiming), 'Worship Allah (Alone), and avoid (or keep away
from) Taghoot. Soorah an-Nahl (16): 36
Important Ahadeeth:
I have been commanded to fight the people until they testify that there is
no ilah (deity worthy of being worshiped) except Allah and that
Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. Agreed upon

Whoever disbelieves in Taghoot and believes in Allah, then he has

Allah has prohibited the Fire for the one, who says, 'La ilaha illAllah'

So stand you firm and straight as you are commanded and those (your
companions) who turn in repentance (unto Allah) with you, and transgress
not (Allah's legal limits). Soorah Hud (11): 112

Whoever performs an action that is not ordered by us is rejected.

Important Aayah:
And (all) the Most Beautiful Names belong to Allah, so call on Him by
them, and leave the company of those who belie or deny (or utter impious
speech against) His Names. They will be requited for what they used to
do. Soorah al-Aa'raf (7): 180
Important Ahadeeth:
Allah has ninety-nine Names. Whoever believes in their meanings and
acts accordingly will enter Paradise Saheeh al-Bukhaaree and Saheeh
