1. Background

With the newly academic system so called K to 12 was brought, students must first
undergo Senior High in order to acquire the prerequisite units for college. In this, one
must take core subjects, and their specialized subjects which depends on the strand
theyve taken.

As students reach Senior High, they must decide whether what strand will they take;
Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS), Science Technology Engineering and
Mathematics (STEM), Accountancy and Business Management (ABM) and GA (General
Academic). All Senior High Student, no matter the strand will take a field of mathematics
as a core subject and prerequisite unit.

Mathematics is one of the major problems of some students, seeing it as somewhat

abstract in their minds. In fact, mathematical discoveries have come both from the attempt
to describe the natural world and from the desire to arrive at a form of inescapable truth
from careful reasoning. The desire to learn Math is a major factor but students feel like
they are on an endless loop of numerical confusion, unknowingly equating themselves
into another problem.

Math is a sequential subject, so what you learn today builds upon the math you learned
in the past. Also, the math students are learning today is the foundation of all future
mathematical learning.

If the basic concrete foundation has cracks, students will almost certainly struggle with
future mathematical learning that involves more complexities and abstractions.
Unfortunately, many students move into more abstract math courses with a dangerously
crumbled foundation in the essentials. All too often, this spells disaster.

2. Methods, Materials, Participants

2.1. Methods

A mix of quantitative research and qualitative research will be observed to

comprehend the needed information for the study. Analyzation will be used for the
qualitative research in order to reach a conclusive answer on a large amount of data. On
the other hand, statistical method will be used to breakdown the simple and complex data
obtained from the participants.

Quantitative methods which emphasize objective measurements and the statistical,

mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls, questionnaires, and
surveys, or by manipulating pre-existing statistical data using computational techniques.

Qualitative Research is primarily exploratory research. It is used to gain an

understanding of underlying reasons, opinions, and motivations. It provides insights into
the problem or helps to develop ideas or hypotheses for potential quantitative research

2.2. Materials

The following are the set of materials to be used on the research: Data sets , field
notes, publications, presentations (PowerPoint or any presentation application),
questionnaires paper/ survey paper. This material will be used accordingly on the
research in order to achieve a successive rate.

2.3. Participants

Students from the Senior High Level of the Cavite School of Life Bacoor Campus
will be the participants in this study. Students both who deals mathematics with ease,
average, and with struggle will be the type of participants in this research. They will also
come from different strands in order to state objectivity.

3. Relevant Literature

Overcoming the crisis in mathematics would take a step-by-step process to succeed.

Math like other academic subjects can be dealt in a similar way, 1 Researchers have
found that the juncture of three domains allows effective learning to take place.
First, students need to be able to receive and process information, a process
known as cognition. Second, students need to be able to physically communicate
their knowledge, a process relating to their psychomotor skills. And third, students

need to possess affect, the desire to learn and understand why their participation
is beneficial to them (this is also called social emotional learning).

Being able to comprehend numerical figure and equation will also bring a factor to
both student and teacher, 2 Teacher can do a lot in this field. They can give special
attention to each failure students. They may discuss their personal problems and
can provide necessary help or can guide them positively. It is also suggested that
teachers may be given certain refresher courses for getting on understanding of
the various mastery learning strategy.

Another factor that affects the students possibly could be the economic state of their
family. Whether the basic needs of the student to learn are supplied, and his basic
necessities are attained. The effect brings drastically a change in the physiological ability
and mental thinking to the student depending on the level of struggle with his academics
in math and personal life. In relation, implications on a given matter is given 3 Due to
economic necessity of the family, these students are forced to attend the
household duties before and after the school hours. To improve this situation,
more inventive in the form of books, stipends/scholarships and dresses should be
given to such children in order to reduce some extent the financial burden on their
parents. The economic problems of the parents in low-economic status contribute
significantly to the general anxiety of the failure students. The point discussed in
second step should be taken by govt. and other policy maker voluntary
organizations to provide some concrete financial help to formalities militias to
enhance their income, so that general anxiety among the failure students due to
financial handicaps may be reduced to some extent. In a possible manner, the
implication will reduce a number of students to fail in math to an extent of controllable
value.
