DISCIPLINED RESEARCH FOR ELEMENTARY DISTRICT AND SCHOOL ICT


COORDINATORS AND ADVISERS

Information and Communications Technology or ICT has been part of the teaching-
learning process especially now that we are in the 21st century. Teachers make use of
computer-assisted instruction. Microsoft Word is used in making reports, Microsoft Excel
is used in making grades, Microsoft PowerPoint is used in making presentations of lessons,
and Publisher is used in lay outing bulletin boards and displays. These are just some of the
many ways ICT is being used in education.

Research is creating new knowledge. Neil Armstrong. This is the line that fits
the superb Seminar-Workshop on Information Technology-Disciplined Research held at
Club Royale Resort, City of Malolos, Bulacan on October 24-26, 2017.

On the first day, the first discussant was Mr. Marco Paulo M. Victoriano of Calumpit
National High School who talked about the Role of ICT in Research. He taught the
participants about the importance of ICT in conducting a research in education. On the
same day, Dr. Ferdinand H. Magpayo of SDO Bulacan tickled the minds of the participants
on how to develop the technical writing skills. He refreshed the minds of the teachers in
some basic English grammar lessons. He also elaborated the qualities required to be a good
writer/researcher.

On the second day, the session about Research in Technology was introduced and
spearheaded by Dr. Rico Paulo G. Tolentino of SDO Bulacan. He tackled the format of the
applied research based on the Revised Guidelines in Conducting Research Based on the
Basic Education Research Fund Standards. His session ended with the commitment of each
participant to conduct a research in ICT for better education of the learners.
NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE DIVISION SEMINAR-WORKSHOP ON
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY-DISCIPLINED RESEARCH FOR ELEMENTARY
DISTRICT AND SCHOOL ICT COORDINATORS AND ADVISERS

In accordance with Division Memorandum No. 191, s. 2017, the Division Seminar-
Workshop on Information Technology-Disciplined Research for Elementary District and
School ICT Coordinators and Advisers was held at Club Royale, City of Malolos, Bulacan
on October 24-26, 2017 with the following objectives: (a) develop skill in conducting an
information technology disciplined research project; (b) generate new knowledge on less
explored but priority fields of basic education, particularly in Information and
Communications Technology in Education as one of the topics in Basic Research Agenda;
and (c) systematically focus ICT coordinators attention on relevant technology issues.

On the first day, the first session of the seminar was led by Mr. Marco Paulo M.
Victoriano. He talked about the Importance of ICT in Research. After Mr.Victorianos
session, another intelligent speaker was introduced to the crowd. The second session was
led by Dr. Ferdinand H. Magpayo. He elaborated the difference between creative writing
and technical writing. The participants enjoyed his very challenging exercises.

On the second day, the Research in Technology was discussed by Dr. Rico Paulo
G. Tolentino. Through his expertise, the participants learned how to conduct different kinds
of research such as basic research, action/applied research and the like.
