Description: The Written Reflection is based upon the content from the weekly lectures. This
activity is compulsory and needs to be completed.
By completing this Reflection, you are demonstrating to your lecturer that you
understand the learning content.

The Head lecturer / tutor will grade your work and assist you in any areas where
you may not be able to answer the questions satisfactorily.

Instructions: For students: This assessment task involves you completing a 600-word written
reflection identifying your emotional strengths and weaknesses. The written
reflection will be based on feedback you have obtained from others and your own
personal reflections.
Your written reflection must be presented in three sections as outlined below.
Within each section, certain criteria must be met, those criteria are numbered.

Section 1 - Event/Situation: (between 100- 150 words)


Candidates are to briefly summarise an event or situation that the reflection is
related to. Importantly, this section focuses on the past. This will be a short
summary and provide a starting point for which the reflection will be based on.

Section 2 - Critical analysis: (between 225- 275 words)


You are to critically analyse the event with a focus on your emotional intelligence
during the event. Importantly, this section begins to draw meaning of the event.

Questions to ask yourself and answer as part of Section 2 include:

Why did that event/occurrence happen?


How did your emotions contribute to the situation?
What does your reaction to the situation say about your emotional
intelligence?

You must identify and discuss:


1. Your emotional strengths and weaknesses
2. The emotional triggers that generated an emotional response
3. How stress and your emotional state influenced the situation

Section 3 - Reflection: (between 250- 300 words)


You must now reflect on the event and the critical analysis and think about the
future implications of your reflection and what you have learnt. Importantly, this
reflection focuses on the future.
Questions to ask yourself and answer as part of Section 3 include:
What have you learnt about yourself during/after the reflection?
How does this impact your capacity to manage your emotions and the
emotions of others?
What needs to change about you? How will you change?
In what ways can you apply what you have learnt about yourself in
future situations?
You must identify and discuss:
4. How the findings from the reflection impact on your future professional
practice? What needs to change about you?
5. Specific strategies and actions for the management and modelling of
appropriate emotional responses in the future

Once you have completed all sections of the Reflection, you will need to upload
and press Submit to send through for grading.
By submitting your work, you are declaring that the material contained within the
activities is your own material, written and developed by no other person except
where due reference is made. False declarations may lead to withdrawal of any
qualification or subject.

Range and Conditions: The student must structure the reflection as outlined above. The completed
reflection is to be uploaded and submitted online.

Decision Making Rules: You must structure the reflection and address the five (5) criteria outlined in the
instructions sections above.
The reflection must be 600 words in length (+ or - 10%).
All criteria must be met to achieve a satisfactory response. Your reflection will be
assessed against a prescribed marking criteria.
Where a student achieves a Not Yet Satisfactory result, they will be provided
an opportunity to resubmit their work.

Pre-Approved Reasonable There are no pre-approved adjustments allowed for this assessment. A need for
