Timeline of activities (Instructional Procedures):

Students will have a background knowledge on parts of speech and poetry. I will give a review
over the parts of speech and over some authors of poetry. I will then go over the requirements
of the assignment and then I will have an example powerpoint made ahead of time showing an
example of what the students will make. I will then go over how to use powerpoint by showing
how to use the different tools of Powerpoint. Students will choose a favorite poem and break it
down looking at how the parts of speech are used. Students will make a powerpoint using
computers and may use the internet to look up poets and poems they have heard in class. Once
they have chosen a poem, they will create a powerpoint showing at least 3 examples of parts of
speech used in that poem. I will walk around supervising and assisting where needed.
