Guayaquil University, open house for its 150 years of institutional life serving to the
country. The students of each faculty made stands to show us more about their careers
in English language. I visited any stands such as medicine, industrial, and agronomy
stands. It was realized on Friday, Nov 24 .

Medicine school, technical English, the students of this faculty explained about the
influence of processed food, so they said that it is the process by which food is broken
down into smaller parts and the body uses them to as source of energy, they talked also
about diseases. For example, obesity, I liked so much what the said about this,
nowadays it disease is so normal that there are many people who suffer it. They
explained also that obesity is caused by bad eating habits, another topic was smoking
dangers, they told us what diseases can be caused by this addiction, and for example,
lung cancer is the principal. They recommended us to eat healthy and taken care about
our body.

Industrial engineering, the students of this faculty talked about what do industrial
engineers do and they explained that industrial engineers analyze, interpret design and
control production system applying science, math and engineering methods to complex
system integration and the ability to work well with people, and a broad, system
perspective. They told us that this career includes several areas of knowledge, such as
economic, human and technical sciences. It draws on specialized knowledge and skills
in the field of mathematics, physics and social sciences. It is the art of business.

Agronomy faculty, this faculty focused something different than other faculties so this
faculty explained the importance of English in this career. Well, they said that
nowadays, speaking a second language like English in an advanced level is a
requirement for every university; therefore, it is necessary to promote general English
courses to gain knowledge of elementary topics, as well technical English such as
agriculture English to help learning a second language focused in their professional
field. They expressed that one of their objectives is to determine the impact of this case
study on students of agriculture science school.

Well, definitely every day we learn something new and I learned in this open house that
every career require of English, this language is very necessary for us and it is good that
all we are learning it. I hope that this university will be many more years and that those
who work ad study there will increase our efforts to provide the best and learn even
more.
