So we sat down together and I walked through the directions one more time but broke it down to specifically address the students questions and confusion. Student was given the tools to start progressing on the path to a high score. Addressed the EQ with the student and gave examples the student could use as inspiration. Constant reminders on the board of what is expected. this is the universal grading rubic for essay writing at this high school that the students were given at the beginning of the unit.
