COVENANT MANAGEMENT: Relationship & community building

I will be seeking to understand my students with questions and prompts. I will always encourage
students to work and share ideas with partners. Additionally asking them to take charge of their own
learning.

Identify at least 2 ways you will gain whole group attention: Counting backwards
Zero voices hand signal
Strategies you intend to use to redirect individual students: Physical proximity

DOMAIN 3: INSTRUCTION

CONTENT MANAGEMENT: THE LESSON

Motivation/Opening/Intro:

Today we are going to continue talking about the water cycle. Weve learned about two steps
of the water cycle so far. Evaporation and condensation as well as something called
transpiration which is apart of evaporation when we see things evaporate from plants and
animals. Who can explain evaporation to the class? Condensation? Students repond

We are going to talk about the next step of the water cycle today!

Development:

Have all students come to the front rug. Teacher wearing name tag that says sun. Desk in
the back has label that says cloud.

Today we are going to pretend we are water droplets. Now Ill be the sun. Remember I have
lots of heat and energy. As I bring students one by one to this desk in the back they are turning
into water vapor. After they evaporate they will begin to condense and turn into ________.

Bring students two or three at a time over to students desk in the back of the room. After
about 8 or 9 students are crowded around cloud.

Now what do we notice about our cloud rightnow?

Have students share thoughts with whole class

Its pretty full isnt it? Just like our students crowded around the desk clouds also get a little
bit too crowded! I bet some of you want to step away and go back to the big open space?

Have all students return to desks

That bring us to our next stage in the water cycle. Precipitation. When those clouds get big
and full they eventually have to release all that water. It falls to the earth as something we
call precipitation. Now when our water falls to earth it can come as rain, snow, sleet, or hail!

This is how we get some of our weather.

Display picture of rain, and snowing weather

Closure:

Next we are going to fill out our notes on precipitation. Water is _______ to earth. Now it isnt
just rain right? It can be in any ___________. Precipitation can come in so many forms, Id like
you to draw another picture to help you

Students share fill in blanks and create another drawing on precipitation which will be taken
home
