YES NO
X Intern communicates and maintains standards for appropriate classroom behavior.
X Intern anticipates and acts on potential classroom disruptions.
X Intern maintains positive classroom climate.
X Intern responds to student behaviors appropriately.
Comments: I am really impressed with the warm way that you respond to the students as each contributes. You use verbal
reinforcers regularly, both simple acknowledgement as well as more extended reinforcers (I like the way that
you..because and I appreciate you giving us an example) You also knew how to probe a student for an answer of
he or she became confused. You used the word friends to address your students.

2. Instruction - Instructional Time

X Intern has materials, supplies, and equipment ready at the start of the lesson or activity.
X Intern gets class started quickly.
X Intern uses available time for learning and keeps students on task.
Comments: Delaina, you began the lesson quickly with a question to activate students prior knowledge about budgeting.
You did an excellent job of paraphrasing student input/responses as they volunteered. Despite having a very large group of
students, you know their names. Your positive reinforcement of the students verbally helped them feel safe to participate,
kept the pace of the lesson moving along, and served as a powerful classroom management technique.

3. Instruction - Instructional Planning and Presentation

X Intern establishes links with prior learning and experiences.
X Intern arranges learning activities to support standards.
X Intern appropriately uses a variety of teaching styles.
Comments: Students were immediately energized by the way that this lesson was so applicable to real life. Your
presentation and worksheet were self-created and engaging. You provided a way for students to stay working even when
they ran out of money in their budget.

4. Instruction - Instructional Monitoring

X Intern circulates to check performance and monitor progress.
X Intern varies level of questioning.
X Intern ensures that all students have the opportunity to participate.
Comments: All students were participated and engaged. Their conversations related to lesson content. You did need to
stop the students from time to time to redirect their volume, but this didnt cause any real interruption in the lesson.

5. Impact on Student Learning - Facilitating Instruction

X Intern establishes clear outcomes for learning.
X Intern communicates learning outcomes to students.
X Intern adjusts lesson based on student responses/ongoing assessment.
X Intern connects learning outcomes to the NCSCOS.
Comments:

6. Evaluation/Assessment - Instructional Feedback

X Intern provides feedback on the correctness or incorrectness of in-class work to encourage student growth.
X Intern affirms correct oral responses appropriately and moves on.
X Intern provides sustaining feedback after an incorrect response by probing, repeating the question, giving a clue,
or allowing more time.
Comments:

Strengths: Areas on which to focus:

Creating a warm and positive classroom climate Circulate and monitoring as students are working

Using many different types of positive reinforcement, even Consider adding more management tools to your repertoire
delayed reinforcement, which means that you brought up (using Dojos yourself, positive stick notes on desks, etc.)
what a student said earlier in the lesson and reminded the
class who said it as well! This is a high level of positive
reinforcement that demonstrates listening and regard for
students. Great job!

Well-planned lesson with real life application that excited
the students
