Word Study Weekly Lesson Plan

Name_______Brittany Cole________________________ Student Grade Level___________second_________________________________

This lesson plan is for a word study group based on the assessment of the child below and for other students with this similar stage in development.

The student that I assessed is in the Within Word stage of development which is where the typical second grade student should be at this point in the
year. Her strengths included spelling single syllable words correctly and words with short vowels. As a class they are focusing on the use of long vowels
especially with the e at the end of the word. Students in this stage have a tendency to overuse the e and also need to focus on other long vowel
patterns, r controlled vowels, and complex consonants.

Technology Integration: My technology integration is the use of the Doceri and SeeSaw apps for the iPad. The students will be using those to create a video of
their sort with them saying the words that they sorted and explaining why each word goes into either category.
