Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity. The activities that will occur prior to this activity will be group lessons over which amount
(given) is more. This will lead into a quiz that will help me understand where the students are in
understanding this topic.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
Assess prior knowledge Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) To illuminate common
misconceptions Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) Summative assessment of content knowledge Test preparation
Survey/Poll Discussion starter Homework collection Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity: (What will the students do? What will the
teacher do? What materials are needed? How long with the activity last?)
Students will be in front of a computer taking this quiz at their own pace. Their will be no materials needs
except a computer and paper and pencil if needed for scratch work. I will walk around the classroom
observing how the students are doing. The activity will last about 20- 30 minutes. This will give me a good
idea on where the students stand on this topic and if they are ready for a test. If not, I will meet up with the
students that are still struggling to help them better understand.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions? Yes

Yes No
Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)

Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
Yes
No
Why or why not? I will show the correct answer on the display. I will then, meet with each student to discuss
how they did. If any students are struggling, this will be the time I explain to them we will work on it.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? After the activity, I will display the answers on the
board. I will meet with each student to discuss how they did with the activity. Once each student knows what
they need to work on, I can put them into groups based on their answers from the activity to have more
practice with their peers using different manipulatives to represent amount.

How will the data be used? I will use this activity to prepare future activities towards the students that are
struggling with this activity. For those that are not struggling, I will prepare certain activities for them as an
extension to challenge them in their understanding.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. (For example: What are you trying that you have not
tried before? What do you hope to learn from this activity? How do you hope it will help students learn?)
I want to understand how much my students understand about comparing numbers. This will help me, as a
teacher, to pin point which student needs more instruction on this topic and which students can move
forward to extension with this material. This will also help me to build their test based on how they each
responded to the different types of questions in this activity.
