Body Making your Odd/Even Monster -
(Activity #1) - Teacher Actions
o You are going to be making your own Odd/Even monster just like mine! First, pick whether
you want your monster to be odd or even. Title your page with what you have chosen. Next,
draw an outline of your monsters body. When youre ready, come show one of the teachers
and they will tell you whether you are ready or to start gathering supplies. You will work on
only one section of your monster at a time, meaning, you should only have one type of
material at your desk at a time. Once you are done with one material, begin to write a list of
how many (macaroni, pipe cleaner, feathers) you used a new sheet of blank paper. If you are
making an odd monster everything about your monster should be odd and if you are making
an even number, everything about your monster should be even.
o Ensure students are using the materials appropriately
o Circulate the room asking students whether they are making an odd or even monster and ask
what kind of materials they will use to make this monster
- Student Actions
o Creatively make a unique monster
o Label Monster as an Odd or Even monster
o List the number of objects that make the odd monster odd and the even number even
- Assessment Evidence
o Counting of supplies

o Can tell what is even/odd about their monster
