The Messiah
Prophecies Proving Jesus is the Messiah.
The greatest proof that God exists, cares, is involved in the affairs of mankind, is fulfilled prophecy! God not
only SPOKE, but spoke words that He directed onto paper in the form of a Book we call the Bible. This Bible
contains more than just words, but the very testable, and verifiable proof of fulfilled prophecy. Only Almighty
God could have presented so MANY prophecies, and made sure they ALL came true.
Below are just the Old Testament Prophecies Concerning the Messiah, and their fulfilment as described in the
New Testament. Not every prophecy is completely fulfilled, but may have different parts, for different times, but
as you study these you will see that the vast majority of them have been fulfilled to the letter.
There is a whole host of other prophecies relating to other people, and events of the past, as well as relating to
the future. Once you grasp the magnitude of the prophecies just relating to Jesus, you begin to appreciate just
how magnificent the Bible really is!
The odds of these prophecies being fulfilled start off with any one of them being possible in a particular man's
life as 50/50 - a person has a 50/50 chance that it might happen to them. With each additional prophecy tagged
onto that same particular person, the odds grow smaller: with 2 prophecies, the odds become 1 in 4 or a 25%
chance. By the time you have just 10 particular prophecies about a person in the future, the odds that by
chance those 10 things do come true are 1 in 1024. But that is only if you allow all the prophecies to happen in
any order, and at any time. With prophecies relating to the coming of the Messiah, the prophecies had to happen
in the correct sequence, and all in a short amount of time, making the odds multiply astronomically.
So, just 10 prophecies, in order, occurring by chance at just the right time in the life of one person are about as
possible as a person looking for a special gold kernel of corn on a specific staLuke somewhere in a field of corn
staLukes 200 miles square, and by chance, grabbing the right staLuke, pulling just the right ear, and opening
the ear and finding that gold kernel. With Jesus, there are 300 prophecies that pointed to His life, death, burial,
and resurrection! There isn't enough space in a book to print all the zeros in the odds against that happening by
chance!
