The generator outlet and neutral point cubicles (often called the Main Terminal Boxes -

MTBs) are used to connect the generator power terminals to other systems. MTBs
contain the necessary measuring and protective devices. On the generator side, the
connection point is represented by a flange with busbar conductors connected to the
generator terminals. On the cubicle outlet, there is a connection point for the power
cables or encapsulated conductors. Based on the generator size and construction, either
one common cubicle is used for the outlet and neutral point, or two separate cubicles
are used (one for the generator neutral point and the second for the outlet devices).
The cubicle is typically equipped with the current and voltage measuring and protection
transformers, surge arresters, RC elements acting as overvoltage protection. The
generator neutral point can contain a directly connected HV resistor, or a LV resistor
connected to the secondary winding of a HV/LV transformer. The MTB configuration is
project specific. It is, therefore, not a serial production, but an individual solution for
individual projects.
