Fowler – Winstead

Cherie Michele Fowler and Russell Bryan Winstead were united in marriage April 12,
2008 at five o’clock in the afternoon, in a double ring ceremony. The service was
held at Hunterdale United Church of Christ in Franklin, Virginia. The ceremony was
officiated by Reverend Scott Wilkinson, of Greenville, North Carolina

The bride is the daughter of Larry and Tammy Fowler of Newsoms, Virginia. She is
the granddaughter of Mrs. Ellaree Hyder of Courtland, Virginia and the late Earl R.
Hyder and Mrs. Julia Fowler of Newsoms, Virginia and the late Julian Fowler.

The groom is the son of Charles and Debbie Winstead of Rocky Mount, North
Carolina. He is the grandson of Mrs. Ruby Winstead of Rocky Mount, North Carolina
and the late Russell D. Winstead and the late Master Chief George D. Batts and
Pauline Smith Batts .

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents while the
song “I Loved Her First” was played. Her gown was satin and taffeta with beaded
metallic lace on the bodice and pick up skirt and chapel train. The fingertip veil was
trimmed with beaded metallic lace. For flowers the bride carried a bouquet of pink
roses, white tulips and hypericum berries that was designed by her cousin, Joe
White of Macclesfield, North Carolina.

Mrs. Christy Fowler, sister-in-law of the bride, from Newsoms, Virginia served as
Matron of Honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Megan Rainey of Newsoms, Virginia, Mrs.
Courtney Brabble of Wilson, North Carolina, Miss Caitlin Thuerk of Raleigh, North
Carolina, Mrs. Mary Formo, cousin of the groom, of University City, Missouri and Miss
Kendra Dougherty of Raleigh, North Carolina. Honorary attendants were Sisters of
Delta Zeta Sorority.

The groom chose his father, Charles Russell Winstead, as Best Man. Groomsmen
were Mr. Colt Robbins of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, Mr. Andy Snipes, cousin of the
groom, of Raleigh, North Carolina, Mr. Travis Alford of Allston, Massachusetts, Mr.
Matthew Casey of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Mr. Pete Fowler, brother of the
bride, of Newsoms, Virginia. Ushers were Mr. Rudy Salazar of Wilson, North Carolina
and Mr. Wesley Story of Newsoms, Virginia.

Mr. Travis White, cousin of the bride of Conway, North Carolina, was the candle
attendant. Mr. Ian Daniels of Courtland, Virginia and Mr. David Pope of Newsoms,
Virginia, both friends of the bride, served as sand attendants. Mrs. Nickie Fye,
cousin of the groom, of Garner, North Carolina, attended the guest register. Miss
Brittany Burroughs, cousin of the groom of Waldorf, Maryland and Miss Tara Fowler,
cousin of the bride of Franklin, Virginia, were program attendants. Mistress of
ceremonies was Mrs. Stacy White, cousin of the bride of Conway, North Carolina and
Mrs. Vickie Wilkinson, friend of the groom, of Chocowinity, North Carolina.

Wedding music was provided by Mrs. Sherry Pope of Newsoms, Virginia and soloists,
Mrs. Charlene Tudor and Mr. Travis Sherrod, both of Wilson, North Carolina who sang
“When God Made You”.

Following the ceremony a reception was held at Cypress Cove Country Club in
Franklin, Virginia. Guest were greeted by Mrs. Janie Church and Mrs. Vickie Taylor of
Franklin, Virginia and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Williams of Rocky Mount, North Carolina.
Mrs. Jeri Daniels of Franklin, Virginia and Mrs. Patti Story of Drewryville, Virginia were
in charge of the reception. Mrs. Tracy Brown of Newsoms, Virginia was the photo
frame attendant. Mrs. Amy Vick, cousin of the bride of Boykin’s, Virginia was the
gift table attendant. Mr. Danny Daniels of Courtland, Virginia was the video man for
the ceremony. The last dance for the new couple was sung by Mrs. Stacy White,
“Come Away With Me” . Music at the reception was provided by SoCo
Entertainment, DJ’s Chuck Edwards and Nathan Umphlett.

On January 5, 2008, a cocktail party was hosted by Mr. Joe White, Mr. Dan Roberson
and Mr. and Mrs. James Hutchinson at Myrtle Grove Plantation in Macclesfield, North
Carolina.

On February 3, 2008, a miscellaneous wedding shower was given by women of

Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in the
fellowship hall.

On February 16, 2008, a bridal shower was given by the groom’s aunts and cousins
at Morton Memorial Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

On March 1, 2008, a recipe shower was hosted by Sherry Pope, Lynn Ramsey and
Amy Hinson, friends of the bride at Newsoms Baptist Church of Newsoms, Virginia.

On March 15, 2008, a Bachelorette party was hosted by friends of the bride in
Wilmington, North Carolina and a Bachelor party was hosted by friends of the groom
in Raleigh, North Carolina.

On March 28, 2008, an “Around the Clock” shower was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Alan
Rainey, Mr. and Mrs. James Church and Mr. and Mrs. Pete Fowler at the home of Pete
and Christy in Newsoms, Virginia.

On March 29, 2008, a “Royal Tea” was hosted by Mrs. Stacy White and her daughter
Miss Kayla White in Conway, North Carolina.

On March 30, 2008, a “Just About Time” shower was hosted by Mrs. Marilyn Crowder
and Mrs. Rebecca Drake, friends of the bride, at Newsoms Baptist Church in
Newsoms, Virginia.

After a honeymoon trip to The Dominican Republic, the couple will reside in Wilson,
North Carolina.
