Achieve 30% Savings by Installing Biomass

Briquette Fired Boiler for Steam Generation

Background Make Maxtherm Technologies

Sydler Remedies Pvt. Ltd. is a pharmacutical company
Steam Generation Capacity 4.5 TPH
established in 2004 with its corporate office in Mumbai.
The company is engaged in making corrugated boxes Fuel Type Biomass briquettes
and supplying to various leading companies such as UB Steam Pressure 10.5 kg/ cm2
Group, ITC, P&G etc. The unit also exports its product
to Russia, Sri Lanka, Nigeria, and Kenya.

The unit of Syndler Remedies located at Aurangabad

has installed steam boiler which uses Biomass briquettes
(See Fig.-1) as fuel. The generated steam is used as heat
source in the process to manufacture the corrugated
boards (raw matrerial for making boxes). Since, the
boiler oprates on the briquettes prepared from the
biomass waste, this technology falls under cleaner
technology category.

Biomass is cheaper compared to the diesel and other

industiral fuels and largely available in the nature.

Some drawbacks of the diesel fired

About the Project

The World Bank (WB), with support from the Global Environmental Facility (GEF), is executing a project titled FINANCING
ENERGY EFFICIENCY AT MSMEs. The project aims to identify, design & implement Energy Efficiency (EE) solutions in 500
MSMEs in 5 clusters with potential of EE investment of more than Rs. 100 crore and reduction in GHG emissions equivalent
to 1.2 million tonne CO2. Majority of the MSME units completing implementation have reported significant energy and
cost savings. This project is being co-implemented by Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) and Bureau of
Energy Efficiency (BEE) .
