Happy New Year Everyone!! Can it really be 2018? Now that the Holidays are over, we can get back to
focusing on the work of the Order once again. There is an Admission and Formation Degree scheduled
for January 9th, and a Knighthood Degree scheduled for January 26th, so get those form 100’s out and
let’s get some new members so that we can get off on the right foot! ! Let’s make a big push for Star
Council, there is still time!! There are some great incentives for Councils to recruit new members.
Councils who make Star Council will receive a $4.50 credit per billable member off their per Capita!
That’s a lot of money that your council can put towards charitable giving. In addition to that, the
Supreme Knight announced at the Mid-Year Meeting of State Deputies a lottery incentive for 10
couples to attend the World Meeting of Families in Dublin, Ireland with all expenses paid. Here is
how it works: beginning December 1st, 2017, every time that you recruit a member into the Order through June 30th,
2018, your name will go into a drawing and on July 1st, 2018, ten names will be drawn at random. If you are a winner,
we will notify you and your wife immediately so you can plan this once in a lifetime opportunity to interact with fami-
lies from all over the world. When you return, you can become a beacon of light for other families in your council,
community, and state. The more men that you recruit, the greater the probability you will have to win this trip. So
please communicate this incentive to all of your council members so that they can have the chance to win this
experience of a lifetime.
We have some important forms that are due this month including the Survey of Fraternal Activity (#1728). This is how the
Order calculates out how many volunteer hours that the Councils put in throughout the year and how much money is
donated by the individual Councils. I hope that you all returned the Individual Worksheets that you were asked to fill out and
hand in so that your Council is credited with all of the Great Work that they do in the Name of Our Order! I look forward to
the next six months of this Fraternal Year to see all of the progress your Council is making! Let’s make a big push for Star
Council, there is still time!!
I will see you all soon at the next meeting.
Until then,
Vivat Jesus.
Michael Boehm,
District Deputy
Third New York District.

the Ladies are welcome. We hope to see you there!

On December 5th, Members from the Patchogue
Knights of Columbus gathered at our Councils Nativity
for the Annual ―Light up for Christ‖. Councils from all
over the world were gathering at the same time to light
their own Christmas Trees or Nativities. After a few
words, we were led in a prayer by our Council Chaplin
and Spiritual Leader Fr. Bill Winters, and at exactly
8 p.m. we lit our Nativity. Thank you to all who came
out in the rain and joined us!
This past November we celebrated Vocation Awareness Week, asking prayers for young men and
women as they discern God’s plan for their lives. Our Supreme website featured various vocation
stories, including that of Father Ryan C. Boyle: ―I flew cargo planes all over the world, including
combat sorties into Iraq and Afghanistan. But I knew that the Lord was calling me to soar even
higher. … After many hours of prayer — often while flying at 35,000 feet, and encouragement from
priests and friends, I decided to trade in the flight deck for the altar.‖ Father Boyle’s story reminds us
that God calls people from all walks of life to incredibly new experiences. We ask that you all
continue to pray for vocations. St. John Paul II tells us‖…at a minimum we should pray for vocations
daily.‖ To assist us in this, here is a very short and simple prayer that you can say each day:
Please bring a can of Non -Perishable food for our Food Panty

WE CARE - WE SHARE
Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful and healthy holiday
season. The New Year brings new beginnings and new hope for everyone, a chance to
reset and reorganize our lives. It’s also a time to get back to work. With that in mind
we have a lot coming up in 2018, starting with the annual coat drive for kids. This year we are
including hats, scarves and gloves. Please contribute whatever you can to this worthy cause.
Many children go to school in the winter with little protection from the cold.
I wish to thank the Knights for once again hosting a wonderful Christmas party and Christmas
breakfast for the kids.
Our meeting this month is January 17th, at 7 pm. Please try to make the meeting because we will
be talking about our Victorian Tea coming up in April. I would like to get an early start this year
to make it a great event for everyone.
Please keep our sister Columbiettes and Brother Knights who are ill or going through difficult
times in your prayers.
Happy Birthday to the January babies: Jessica Boehm, Virginia Manitta, Martha Gross,
Rose Marie Mancuso, Peggy Newham , Peggy Oreste, Theresa Scavo, Dorothy Zeo.
February is our shower for Birthright. The count of blankets, sweaters and hats is off the charts. Thanks Ladies
and a special Thanks to our new Columbiette from Our Lady of Snow. More in February
Elaine Addie, Arlene Russo, Betty Leupp and of course Charlotte Rogers and the Florida Contingent.
