 Code of Practice BS 5950-1:2000

 Steel Grade S 275

 Continuity Top chords are one continues member.

 Member :

 Suggested Section Two angles (Hot-rolled).

 End connections Angles are connected through one leg and to both sides of Gusset plate.

 Connection Type Bolted connection (4 No. 30 mm diameter – Grade: 4.6 –in standard
clearance holes of non-preloaded bolts) in line along the angle.

 Design According to BS 5950-1:2000


1. Design for Compression:
 Selection of the section; (Green book)
Try Two Equal Angles ( 2/120 120 12   )

 Design Strength; (Table-9)


 Section classification; (Table-11)

 The section is semi-compact.

 Slenderness ratio; (Clause 4.7.2)
