“America’s Colony.” Frontline World, www.pbs.org/frontlineworld/stories/philippines/tl01.html.

Accessed 22 Dec. 2017.

This source summarizes American colonization of the Philippines. It discusses

Philippine life under American colonization with good detail. It talks about some

religion and cultural changes, and the life that Filipinos lived under American

colonization. It is a useful source since it comes from an educational network, PBS.

Dulker, William J. World History Volume II. E-book. World History 2.

This source has a section on Spanish colonization of the Philippines. While that section

is brief, it helped me figure out what portions of Spanish colonization I wanted to expand

upon. It helped me relate my interview of a family member to a historical event. It is a

dated school textbook, but it helped me figure out my plan for the essay.

“Philippine History: Spanish Colonization.” Phillipine Country,

www.philippinecountry.com/philippine_history/spanish_colonization.html. Accessed 22

Dec. 2017.

This source provided more information of Spanish colonization of the Philippines. I have

written down some notes based on the information on this page. While this source might

not be as good as the other, more educational sources listed here, it helped me write down

some initial notes on Spanish colonization. Like the textbook, it helped me figure out

which points of colonization are useful for me to expand upon on in my essay.

Siscar, Ana Marie Nobleza. Interview. 3 12 2017.

This was an interview from my mother. This interview provided an interesting and

factual story about how my mother’s grandfather was a soldier in World War 2. He had a

child with my mother’s grandmother, who turned out to be my mother’s mother. This

story, along with other information from her about Filipinos who had American lineage

coming to America, helped me recognize the patterns of migration out of the Philippines

to America that started because of American colonization. My mother’s interview also

helped me decide the two topics that I wrote about in my midterm essay; Spanish and

American colonization. Her interview segment about how the Spanish changed the

Filipino names and religion influenced my decision to choose that topic for the essay.

Overall, this interview was a very helpful source to the essay.

“The Spanish Period.” Britannica, www.britannica.com/place/Philippines/The-Spanish-period.

Accessed 22 Dec. 2017.

This is my last source on Spanish colonization of the Philippines. This source provided

some reference information that was pretty detailed. It Like the others, it helped me get a

new insight into Spanish colonization of the Philippines. Britannica is an educational

source seeing as it is a dictionary. This is one of my main educational sources.

“Summary of the American Colonial Period.” Tagalog Lang,

www.tagaloglang.com/summary-of-the-american-colonial-period/. Accessed 22 Dec.

2017.

This is my most unique source. It was created by Filipinos, giving it a more unique point

of view on American colonization of their home country. Seeing the FIlipino view, or at

least what some Filipinos think, about American colonization is useful in determining

how it influenced their patterns of migration. All my other sources were from white or

unrelated races, but this source comes straight from the fingers of the people I am

researching.

Yengoyan, Aram A. The Austronesians. PDF ed., Anu Press, 2006.

This is a useful source on Spanish colonization. It is an e-book that explains the cultural

changes that the Philippines underwent during the period of Spanish colonization. It

explains how Spanish colonization influenced the widespread use of Catholicism in the

Philippines. It does have other sections unrelated to the Philippines, but I am focusing on

the Philippine-related chapter. I will use that information to figure out how these cultural

changes based off Spanish colonization affected Philippine migration patterns.
