Learning Objective By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to:
1. recognize and articulate initial, medial and the final sounds in single
syllable words.
2. blend phonemes into recognizable words and read them aloud.
3. segment words into phonemes to spell.
4. read and understand the paragraph

Success Criteria Pupils are able to:


1. (MS) answer the questions given correctly (6 out of 6) with or without
teacher’s guidance.
2. (L) answer the questions given correctly (6 out of 6) with teacher’s
guidance.

Activities 1. Teacher starts the class with ‘Spelling Marathon’.


2. Teacher asks the pupils to identify the sounds of ‘ ear’ and ‘air’
3. Teacher asks the pupils to read and blend the words using the
sounds.
4. Teacher asks the pupils to segment the words and spell them
correctly.
5. Teacher asks the pupils to read the paragraph and say the words
using the sounds from the paragraph.
6. Pupils write the words and the paragraph in their writing book

2. Pupils listen to teacher’s explanation and the connection with
