About the Company

Taj Exotica Benaulim, Goa is a brand under the TATA Enterprise of Taj Hotels, Resorts and
Palaces. It is located in Benaulim on the southwest coast of Goa and overlooking the Arabian
Sea. Forty minutes away from the airport, the resort sprawls over 56 acres of lush greenery,
and is divided into the main hotel building with large deluxe and luxury rooms, and villa
rooms. All this space coupled with old-world architecture, flower-lined patios and sunshine-

Ballroom, is one of the largest pillar-less banquet halls in Goa at 4,600 square feet (427 m2),
is ideal for romantic destination weddings.

cuisines. One could dine at the casual all-day eateries and formal fine-dining restaurants or
one could just relax in the room and get an experience of fine fare. Lounge by the pool; de-
stress, and soothe the city-frayed nerves with rejuvenating therapies at Jiva Spa.

The Exotica team will pamper you while at the hotel and take care of every need while in
Goa. The hotel also arranges tours to a bird sanctuary, spice plantation and a private
Portuguese home to view antique artifacts and paintings, and guide you through Goa’s
historic sites.

Human resources plays an essential role in developing a company's strategy as well as


handling the employee-centred activities of an organization. The department is responsible to
keeps a record of the staff data entry into the employee master file. They are also responsible
for rewarding the staff and conduct performance appraisal, to organize orientation programs,
handle staff welfare benefits such as Employee State Insurance Corporation, Provident Fund,
medical insurance, etc. They administrate employees’ paperwork, monitor attendance and
also ensure employees’ safety and working conditions.

Function:The role of an HR manager is to manage, create, implement and supervise
policies/regulations, which are mandatory for every employee and also have knowledge of its
appropriate functioning.

In general a HR manager has to take care of all the functions of HR from recruitment and
selection to appraisal, taking care of employee grievances to preparing payrolls. Every small
to big functions has to been monitored by the HR manager.

Qualifications:Human resource managers should typically possess a Master’s degree in


business administration and should have 7 years and more experience in human resources
functions.
Salary:The salary varies based on the experience. The human resource manager in Taj
Exotica is been paid between 70,000 to 100000 per month

 Assistant HR Manager
Functions: Develop and implement corporate Human Resource strategy and programs.
Responsible for HR and administration for the entire organisation including ensuring the
organisation structure is aligned and suitably staffed, designing and implementation of new
and/or existing HR policies and systems aimed at attracting, motivating and retaining talent.
Also controlling HR costs to derive maximum benefit.

Qualifications:Assistant Human resource Managers should typically possess a Master’s


degree in business administration and experience of 5 years and above

Salary: The salary varies based on the experience. The Assistant Human Resource Manager
in Taj Exotica is been paid between 40,000 to 60,000per month.

 HR Executive
Functions:An HR executive performs the basic functions of the HR department, handling
areas such as personnel management, social welfare and the maintenance of HR records. An
HR executive is a key member of the HR department, often playing an instrumental role in
many HR functions, or leading a team of HR staff for various projects.

Qualifications:HR executives should have at least a bachelor's degree and experience of


Maximum 3 years.

Salary:The salary varies based on the experience. The Assistant Human Resource Manager
in Taj Exotica is been paid between 30,000 to 35,000per month

 HR Officer
Function: A HR Officer will recruit, support and develop talent through developing policies
and managing HR procedures. HR Officer is responsible for administrative tasks and
contributes to making the company a better place to work.

Also support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems, be actively
involved in recruitment by preparing job descriptions and posting ads, create and implement
effective on boarding plans, support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues,
maintain employee records according to policy and legal requirements
Qualifications: HR executives should have at least a bachelor's degree and experience of
Maximum 3 years.

Salary: The salary varies based on the experience. The Assistant Human Resource Manager
in Taj Exotica is been paid between 20,000 to 30,000per month

 Junior HR Officer
Function:The Junior HR officer has to handle a variety of personnel related administrative
duties. Junior HR officer also has to support daily HR activities and assist in coordinating HR
policies, processes and relevant documents.

Besides that they have to assist with day to day operations of the HR functions and duties.
Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources executives. Deal with
employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations. Coordinate
communication with candidates and schedule interviews

Qualifications: Junior Human resource Officer should have a bachelor degree in Business
administration and can be a fresher

Salary:The salary varies based on the experience. Junior Human resource Officer in Taj
Exotica is been paid between 10,000 to 20,000per month

Challenges

 The main concern/ challenge of the HR manager in Taj Exotica is to maintain a positive
environment and amazing work culture for the employees. As Taj Exotica gives first
preference to its employee the Human Resource manager has to come up with things to keep
his employees motivated.
 Secondly, the most important challenge is to employ the right talent/ employee in the
organisation as each employee is a cost factor to the organisation. Hence selecting the right
candidate will benefit the business as well as contribute towards being cost effective to the
company.
 Dealing with angry employee’s issues related to work, accommodation, salary, benefits,
appreciation etc.
 Maintaining and updating the files of a large workforce.
 Keeping a track on the employees’ performance and creating motivation activities.
Comparison of HR Department with International Standards
Designation
As we can see the at Taj Exotica- Goa has less and designation are more of generalist.
Whereas in Marriott International, Bethesda, Maryland-USA the designation are as follows:
Senior Manager-Compensation Data Analytics, HR coordinator, Global Digital Marketing
Manager-Employer Brand, HRIS Business Analyst, Talent Acquisition Admin Assistant and
more. The designation aboard are more specific when it comes to important functions of HR

Salary
In USA, the median annual Human Resources Manager salary is $98,629 p.a, as of
November 28, 2017, with a range usually between $86,756-$111,029 p.a, however this can
vary widely depending on a variety of factors.

Qualifications and Functions


Aboard both bachelor’s as well as master’s degree is required Majoring in human resource or
business administration. Also relatively same number of experience as in India. All the HR
core functions are similar.
