conjunction with the relevant design specifications for projects outside the boundaries of RSA.
All design work shall be carried out by Civil Engineers under the direction of a Registered
Professional Engineer (Civil), who shall be Approved by the AngloGold Civil Engineer or his
nominated representative.
3.0 DEFINITIONS

Cold worked high yield reinforcement shall only be used when specified by the Engineer.
Cover to reinforcement shall normally be 50 mm including links. Smaller covers may be used on
minor structures and domestic type structures where concrete surfaces are protected against
adverse climatic or aggressive conditions, but not less than that described in 3.1.1. In no case will
the cover be less than 25 mm or greater than 60 mm except where concrete is cast directly against
earth where a cover of 75 mm shall be used.

capable of withstanding a load of 4 kN.
Roof structures shall be held down by securing the trusses to the walls of the supporting structure.
This shall be completed by providing 50 x 1.2 mm thick galvanised steel straps cast in a minimum
of 350 mm into a concrete ringbeam or built into at least 5 courses of brickwork. The protruding
end of the strap shall be bent firmly over the trusses (i.e. through 180 degrees) and the end
