I. TITLE

The activity will be called the “Tolosa National High School Seminar Workshop on Action and
Basic Research Writing”

II. RATIONALE

The 21st Century is characterized by the upsurge of information, technology, knowledge and
diversity in culture. With this fast changing world the education sector is doing its very best in order to
cope with the demands as well as understand the problems that arises from this change. In order for the
school teacher to have an inkling of this phenomena which is happening within our learners one should
take the task in doing research in order to understand the problems as well as find solution for the
problem.

Hence, the Tolosa National High School is committed in the training of its teachers in Action
Research and Basic Research writing. Action Research will be used in order to develop new methods of
solving current problem in the classroom, in the curriculum and in the school as well. Basic Research will
be used in order to understand the real reasons and the truth behind certain problems in the school e.g.
Nutritional Status, Socio-economic status and all other characteristic of the learners.

This training “the Tolosa National High School Seminar Workshop on Action and Basic Research
Writing” will help develop in the teachers the culture of research. This will also help spark one of the
roles of the teacher which is towards nation building, that the teacher is not merely a conveyor of
knowledge but the builder of the lives of the students and the country as well.

III. TRAINING OBJECTIVE

This three day action and basic research writing workshop will aim to develop in the teachers of
Tolosa National High School the following

1. Know and understands the basics and protocols in Action and Basic Research Writing.
2. Develop within the teachers the culture of research writing.
3. Produce Action and Basic Research Proposal by department during the duration of the activity.

IV. TRAINING STRATEGIES AND METHODOLOGIES

This training will employ face to face learning strategies as well as collaborative group activities
as it is required that each department will be able to produce a Action or Basic Research Proposal.
