METEX masonry horizontal joint reinforcement mesh includes ladder and truss type mesh.
Material specification for both ladder and truss type mesh as follows:
Technical Specifications:
Material Based on
Ladder type reinforcements are designed to be embedded in the horizontal mortar joints of
masonry walls. It consists of two parallel side rods with cross rods at 16’’ (400mm) distances
thus forming a ladder configuration. Overall measurement side to side approximately 50 mm
(2”) less than the nominal wall thickness to be embedded in masonry.

Truss type masonry wire reinforcements are designed to be embedded in the horizontal mortar
joints of masonry walls. It consists of two parallel longitudinal deformed or plain side rods well
connected to acontinuous diagonal formed cross rod forming a truss designs with alternating
welds not exceeding 800 mm (31”) overall. The cross rods are electrically butt-welded to
deformed side rods in a single plane.

Wall and cavity ties are metal joint reinforcements generally used in structural walls to provide
connection, transfer lateral loads and restrain differential movement.
Over the time, ties of various sizes, configurations and adjustability have been developed for
load bearing masonry, cavity walls and brick veneer construction. The size, spacing and type of
ties have been entirely empirical.
6
To be effective a tie system should be Securely attached to both masonry wythes or the brick
veneer and its backing Sufficiently stiff to transfer lateral loads with minimal deformation
Corrosion-resistant and Easily installed.
Metex Block Ties are manufactured as per BS EN 845-1:2003 (Formerly BS 1243). They are
produced with different materials like Mild Steel, Pre-Galvanized Steel, HotDipped Galvanized,
and Stainless Steel as per BS/ASTM Standards.
Epoxy Coating Ties can also be provided where the ties are used in concrete systems with
severe environmental exposures. Epoxy coating provides protection by acting as an impervious
barrier.
There are a number of different Wall Tie Systems available for brick masonry wall systems.
Metex fabricates wall and cavity ties in standard size and shape and also custom ordered ties.

[1d] LINTEL:
Metex lintels are manufactured in accordance with BS standards BS EN 845-2:2003, BS 5977
(part 2 1983) ensuring load bearing, torsional and sustain distribution of total load uniformly.
For good results, the surrounding masonry should be of good quality (BS 5628) and should be
deemed to arch in accordance with BS 5977 (part 1: 1981)
In addition to the use of high quality galvanized steel, the lintels can be further protected-
against corrosion when needed by thermosetting polyester powder coating. This duplex system
of an organic coating over galvanized steel provides excellent long-term resistance to the
corrosive elements from surrounding environment.
Metex Lintels are produced with Galvanized Steel confirming to BS EN 10346:2009 (formerly
BS EN 10142:1991) or ASTM A 653/A653M and Coating Type Z180 to Z275.
9
Installation and technical advisory
METEX lintels should be installed with 20cm bearing at each end and should be fully bedded
blockwork on mortar (20cm end bearing should be allowed at each side).
Our technical department should be consulted if bearings less than 20cm are required.
METEX steel lintels provide a combination of strength and lightweight resulting in efficient load
bearing performance and increased productivity on site.
Advantages
(i) Lifting equipment is not necessary as two men can lift even the longest length into
position
(ii) Corrosion protected
(iii) No propping required while waiting for concrete to cure
(iv) No delay to block work activities
Lintels should not be cut down from manufactured lengths without prior approval.
Use support at center until mortar is dry to avoid any chance of deflection.
If you have any doubt concerning any installation, please contact Technical Department on
METEX at +971-4-8992321
