1 GENERAL
The helo hanger securing ring assembly specified here is for Handling and
Securing of Helicopter using Tie-down Points on the aircraft and attaching them
to the deck and bulkhead fittings with Tie Down chains. The tie down fittings shall
be capable of holding down the helicopter without the assistance from any other
system under any conditions likely to be encountered including extreme high sea
1.1 states.
2 SCOPE OF WORK OF SUPPLIER:
To Design , manufacture and Testing in accordance with Lloyds Register Rules
and Regulations of ships – July 2005 / Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) or any
National or International standard and supply the helo hanger securing rings/tie
2.1 down fiitings as per para-3 “Description of Supply”.
The material and method of manufacture of the complete securing rings shall
have the approvals of Lloyds Register Rules / Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) or
2.2 any National or International standard and their certificates shall be supplied.
Any error, omission or discrepancy observed in this specification is to be made
good and brought to the notice of Shipyard. The supplier shall ensure that all the
2.3 securing rings supplied are complete in all respects for efficient use.
3 DESCRIPTION OF SUPPLY:
3.1 The shape, size and quantity of the securing rings shall be as follows:-

The pot(deck interface rings) is to be machined from High Strength Ship building
Steel to LRS Grade B (Deck plate) or equivalent and the weldable characteristic

Tie down Assembly – Consisting of tie down cup, shackle, pin and end plug. All
components used shall be high-grade stainless steel in order to provide the
3.3.1 necessary strength subzero impact toughness and corrosion resistant properties .
Deck Interface Rings and reinforcing stiffeners – To be fabricated from LRS
3.3.2 Grade-B or Equivalent.

DESIGN CHARACTERISTICS - The tie down assembly shall meet the following

3.4.2 Resisting to pitting ,crevice and chloride stress.
3.4.3 Does not compromise strength characteristic of existing deck plate.
3.4.4 Withstands continues cyclic tensile loading in any direction

3.4.5 Allows free hook rotation up to 145 from the horizontal.
3.4.6 Flush deck installation profile.
3.4.7 Maintenance free
4 W0RKMANSHIP:
The tie down plates shall be sound and smooth, they shall be free from cracks
and any other defects or injurious projections. All flame cutting scarfing or arc-air
gauging to remove surplus metal is to be completed before the final assembly of
4.1 parts. The effected parts are to be ground smooth.
5 TEST AND INSPECTION:
The helo securing rings are to be tested to a proof load of 5 tons at the suppliers
works and the same to be to be certified by class. The proof load is to be
5.1 stamped on all the Helo Securing Rings.
The helo securing rings assembly shall be manufactured, tested, Certified and
Stamped in accordance to the rules and regulations of Lloyds Register or
5.2 equivalent.
All securing assembly shall be tested to twice the SWL after assembley onboard
5.3 and shall withstand the test without any plastic deformation.
6 TEST CERTIFICATES:
Tests and Inspection certificates from the Surveyors of Classification society LRS
6.1 or National or International are to be supplied in One Original plus Five Copies.
The helo securing rings assembly shall be manufactured, tested at supplier works
6.2 , Certified and Stamped and test certificates submitted
7 GUARANTEE:
The supplier shall guarantee the equipment against any defects or failures that
may rise due to faulty design, defective material or poor workmanship involved
on their part for a period of 12 months from the date of delivery of the ship to the
Owner (or) 30 months from the despatch of last consignment of the equipment
7.1 /documentation whichever is earlier.
In case of the suppliers guarantee being applicable, the supplier shall either
arrange to repair the defective part of the equipment at their cost or supply new
ones in compensation free of charge at the earliest possible time. The supplier
shall give further guarantee of 12 months in respect of such parts replaced during
7.2 the guarantee period.

8 RESERVATION / PACKING / SHIPPING:
Preservation/Packing/Conditioning. The responsibility of preservation /packing
/conditioning of the system and all its equipment shall be under supplier scope.
After installation, the equipment is to be preserved till commissioning of the ship.
All such preservations are to be carried out by the OEM duly arranging the
8.1 preservatives and consumables.
Shipping. All equipment shall be adequately packed and protected with supports
to ensure adequate protection during transportation. Each unit within a
package/container shall be clearly marked for identification. The container shall
clearly indicate the commodity description with caution marks, weight, size, etc. A
separate document giving complete details and instructions for storage,
8.2 preservation, handling and transportation after delivery shall be provided.
